I like the medium blue mica bestIf for some reason I don't care for the faux surf green (Rustolem Ocean Mist) or I get tired of looking at the imperfect finish, I plan to redo it in something like one of these ...

It's good that you were able to salvage it.
It was just persistence. I sanded that lousy paint flat about 4 times. I had every problem there was....wrinkling, spitting, bubbling...like a spilled Coke, you name the problem, I had it.
Finally, I just gave it a very heavy coat, let it dry for weeks, then wet sanded, polished, buffed, etc. etc, until it looked passable.
Lousy paint. That’s what I get for going into overpriced Ace Hardware and unknowingly buying 12 year old paint!!!

That’s what an intelligent person would’ve done, but I’m an idiot. It took me a while to realize that paint was junk. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. It didn’t help that I bought half a dozen cans all at once....yeah, won’t be doing that again.
I've done that also. Thought I'd use them way before I ever got around do it. I'm done with that. Lesson learned.
Got my 2 cans of poly put down yesterday. It really made the green and prism pop. Now I just let it sit a few days longer so I can start the wet sanding.

The hard to get the prismatic effect in a photo, the edges shift to purple. But it's coming back together. Not my proudest work, but for a drive way rattle job not bad.
Looks great man! Super nice paired up with that great looking fingerboard. Looks like you nailed the color, intentional or otherwise. Enjoy!

I have a homemade paint booth made of plastic sheeting, a dozen or so cans of spray paint, and now a big 2 x 4 popsicle stick! I hope this earns me a membership in the Rattle Can Refinish Club!
This is my Dean Zone XM body (above) with a final (I hope) coat of Minwax Polyurethane spray. It started out with a trans black satin finish that I never really liked. I was going to refinish this guy gloss black but once I sanded the body down to the wood, I decided I liked looking at the grain - flaws and all. You can’t really tell from the pics but it’s going to be gloss clear.
Next weekend, I hope to do a final polishing and hardware upgrade install. I’ll post pics when it’s done.

I finished the neck on my Squier Jag project today. I had finished the maple and exposed parts with 4 coats of Tru-Oil, then I gave it a couple of days to dry. This evening I taped off the Indian Laural fretboard, then polished the frets with 0000 steel wool. Afterward I applied copious amounts of Dunlop lemon oil to the fretboard and worked it in as good as I could. It's nice and dark now! Then I wiped the excess off with a clean rag.
It's too late to take a decent picture, so I may try tomorrow.

I did this Epiphone-made Toby Deluxe V with minwax poly-shade on the back and minwax oil-based clear all over. Its the first time I've done something like this, and the first time I wet sanded and buffed (I also added the woods on top)
Well the work you put in paid off.

Only one recommendation... as you may have seen in pics of bodies being painted/finished - a small footprint connection to your body at the neck rout is the best way to go. Your attachment that fills the cavity (like a neck) will lead to issues. Overflow of the finish is easy to carefully remove from the cavity (if you choose) or just avoid major overspray there with a minimal bar/support.
