Recommend a Sweetwater Sales Engineer?

I'm sort of surprised that them calling is an issue for most people. You can tell them not to call or to send an email.

...besides y'all actually answer your phones? It ain't the 1980's...if I don't recognize a number it goes right to voicemail; and even if I do recognize a number it goes to voice mail about 60% of the time.

For those who would rather click buy on the website vs. talk to a rep. Here is my invoice from putting our IEM rig together and the pricing compared to what was on their website at the time (circa mid 2017):

The columns are 'Retail', 'discount price', then extended price. The end savings was over 2K vs. what appeared on their website.

Always Jason Koons, for the past 7 years or so. He’s kinda a cliche there. We talk monthly, and I actually answer his calls. Maybe twice in all these years I dealt with one of his team members on an order.

He’s not a bass guy, but we have a good rapport, and usually just cutting up about one thing or another. I’ve made up my mind on what to buy by the time we talk. We usually are just talking pricing and availability, and whatever current events.

I usually don't even communicate with my sales rep, although I'm sure they're handy if I ever have any questions. However, I basically always know what I want and have done research on my own before buying anything. I think in the many many years I have been using SW, I have only called up once to ask about a particular product. I guess they're nice to have, but not vital to purchasing if you already know what you want.

Just curious how these sales engineers help? In everyone's experience are they reading specs to you or are they asking questions about what you're wanting to do and making recommendations based on what you're wanting to do? I feel like the these forums add more value than any sales person I've ever talked to. Not trying to knock them just curious how they help everyone's buying experience.

Aside from that, I am fascinated by how many sales people they have! Is someone keeping a tally?

According to Sweetwater's web site, they have a "university" just for training new salespeople. Google's satellite photos show a parking lot that would hold 600-800 cars, so that's an upper bound (for the whole company, not just sales). It's a huge operation.
