To respond to a couple questions.
I got the iM2306 Pelican case from B&H photo supply. It came shipped for $66.
Regarding the P-1. I spoke to Peter who hooked me up with a P-1 and 500HR rack. After listening to audio samples found through https://www.frontendaudio.com/Articles.asp?ID=171
and reading about bassists using mostly the Gold, I asked Peter which would be the best for my situation.
He basically said, if you're ONLY going to use the pre for bass, then get the Gold. BUT, if you're going to use it for other stuff as well, then get the P-1.
I'm lovin' the P-1. To me, the P-1, in comparison to the Gold, from the audio samples sounds like it has both a bit of upper-mid and high spank to it along with a great low mid fullness and punch. The Gold seems to have more mid-mid punch and a tad warmer sounding.
That's what I heard!
Here's a pic from a session I did a year and a half ago using the REDDI for the first time.
why would peter recommend the gold over the P1 if its just going to be used for bass?

Thats good to know.. I have the GOLD...I run my REDDI into the GOLD at times... What i want to do is buy one of his other products.. Either the A Design PMEQ or Electrodyne EQ.. Talk about FAT bass tones with clarity.. Your talking Master quality record making tones!! Tehy also make a cool Compressor Series 500 BAC.. whewwww. real nice!!! Just with they had a HR500 3 peice rack to put an EQ, PRE and COMP into one space.. thats a bass rig right there... :)

The Gold is a warmer pre, with a slightly rolled off high end. Good low mids/upper bass warmth. A lot of bass players look for that kind of sound.

The P-1 is based on the amazing Pacifica preamp...

There you go. Pretty much what I described in my EQ evaluation.
As far as why he recommended the P-1 over the Gold. I think what Peter was perhaps saying was that if you own only one good pre and you're going to use it on different instruments like a guitar and bass, for example, the P-1 would be more of a versatile pre which would suite different instruments better than perhaps the Gold. I certainly hope I'm conveying his reasoning properly.
+1 on a HR 500 rack that would hold the pre, comp, and EQ.

Hmmmm..... I'm REDDI curious. Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but would it provide enough grunt to drive a Bergantino IP310 for live work or would I need another stage of gain somewhere in the chain?

TIA

It's loud enough for most smaller/less dense gig uses, but you can't fully drive the IP310, and you lose your D.I. If you love the REDDI sound, but want real pre-amp volume, I suggest the Jule Amps Monique. It's pricey, but you're getting a sound that's arguably equal/better than the REDDI (IMHO), a studio grade D.I., a top tier pre-amp, AND EQ. All with a tube rec and 2 6SL7 tubes driving the EQ and the gain stage. Can't beat it! I sold my REDDI because of it :ninja:

Who let you in here? :p

After using A Designs gear for the last seven years and getting to know the company, the care that is put into every product, they way that they do business and the kind of people they are, I'm sold. This is not a plug. I honestly love my stuff and the proof is in the sound that I've been able to get.

By the way:

the EM Gold has a low end and low mid bump.

the EM Silver has a low end bump.

the EM Blue has a high end bump.

This is how I use my A Designs gear...

I heard Reggie's Rack at the Bass Player Live in LA..He was with Pete @ A Design booth. and it was nothing but studio quality sweet. Big full and like and what you would expect a studio type sound to be..
I have used my EM500 Gold as a pre in the past and there is nothing quite like it.. I like the No EQ too.. ..
