Reiner Amplification Gasoline Bass Overdrive

The fact that this pedal is based off anything Timmy C makes me want it as he is one of the main reasons I stuck with bass and didn’t move to drums when I was younger. Currently have a MBD-1 and Prunes and Custard on the way. This and the Volt Thrower are at the top of my list for on deck. May need to get something bigger than a PT2 though.

Just for clarification - the design isn’t based off any gear Tim uses. The first Audioslave album has always been one of my favorite references for overdriven bass tones and served as inspiration to create what I wanted from a bass OD pedal.

Yah I get that, most of Tim’s sound comes from his amps and his homemade distorion, using his tone as a reference point is genius though.

When the first single, Cochise, came out I was immediately underwhelmed by the song but did love the bass sound. Over time I’ve come to appreciate the song as well as the rest of Audioslave’s work for that matter. The debut had the typical curse of any supergroup where the listener (read: me) has so much bias and preconceived ideas going in that the band doesn’t stand a chance. Once I got out of my own way I realized their music was actually quite good.

I did a second rehearsal with the Gasoline last night... ended up using the Gasoline at least 70% of the rehearsal mostly stacked with the MBD-1. I’ve never been that into stacking dirt pedals, but this combo, with both pedals set at somewhat low gains just slays.

And I agree about Audioslave, the first album killed!
Tommy's use of dirt is some of the best out there and that album is like a smorgasbord of different dirt tones.

Mine just Arrived...spent the last 30 minutes with it...can't wait to try it in a Band setting this weekend. But I'm a Happy Camper...the breakup is very musical and not fizzy or farty like most drive pedals...it seems to sit nicely in-between...I was surprised by the amount of drive actually on tap...and it blends quite nicely with the Bumble. Stoked to Crank up...

It definitely is one of the more musical drives I’ve tried. It also complements other drives nicely.... like the MBD-1.

There is quite a bit of gain on tap, and I worked on the taper so that there is a smoother transition into heavy OD/distortion. Probably around 10 o’clock on the Gain is more conventional OD territory.

I’m working on the last two right now. Actually, I have one more, but it’s mine.

It’s designed to distort the mids and lower treble (the stoich/lean/rich determines how far down in the mids you distort), and has comprehensive buffer and mixer circuitry that retains the clean signal’s integrity and thus overall transparency. It also steps up the voltage internally to maintain headroom and dynamic range.

My layman attempt at translation: "blend is your friend".

Not that it's necessary: I occasionally have fun with a full wet signal from the Gasoline. But I usually have Blend dialed back to 2 o'clock, give or take, because I tend to lean on Gain and/or Octane. The nicely-variable mid focus can be magic in the mix.
