Reiner Amplification Megathread

Hey Gustav, just saw the post about your pop...very sorry to hear. Condolences.

Thanks Jimmy. My Dad passed in January and my mom just passed last Tuesday. It’s been a heck of a year so far for sure.

Man, I feel for you. My dad passed eleven years ago, but now mom is about to shuffle off the mortal coil due to complications following a hip replacement. She's had a good long life (87+), but she's ready to meet her maker.

Jonathan, I didn't know about your mom -- my condolences and best wishes to your family. Hang in there.

Spiritbass, I'll hope for comfort for you and your mom -- that your time together is good and happy and that she's able to pass peacefully when it's time.

Jiimmy, you're a good dude. Being that you're in Florida, watch out for college kids on break and 'gators.

Stay safe, y'all.

Thanks everyone.

The last three years have certainly been rough having both parents sick at the same time; my Dad had ALS and my Mom dementia/Alzheimer’s, two very different yet equally horrible diseases. I am proud to say we took very good care of them, and spent as much time with them as we could. It is a huge relief to no longer have to watch them suffer.

I know there are many folks that have, are, or will go though the same type of thing at some point; life is hard on everybody so take care of yourselves and each other, and do the best you can!

I have a bench full of new parts waiting at home so I’ll be back at it eventually! Also have a new Ripmo (any mountain bikers here?), so that’s getting attention first!

I used to be a fairly avid MTB'er when I lived in Bend OR. Trails are just opening back up here in The Gorge right now, hoping to at least get a few easy miles in on my old beater hardtail soon.

I have a lot of new parts on hand and/or incoming right now, finally getting to my long delayed tube amp adventure after a few years of concentrating mostly on battery powered widgets.

I had to look up Ripmo -- turns out, it's a bike. ;)

I haven't had my bike out in years -- and don't think I could today survive the sort of stuff I used to do on it. I was never what I would describe as truly hard-core, but I did ride up and down stairs (wheelies, occasionally, on the way down, if it was a short flight), take a few 8-10 foot drops... rode a natural half-pipe (very briefly) on one occasion, when I was out for a ride and (no kidding) ran into a pro BMX team training... and had a few semi-spectacular (but not Nature-Channel or MTV-spectacular) biffs.

I was 30 pounds lighter and had fully-functioning joints and steel sinews, then -- I still do all right, but if I manage a leisurely spin around the local loop without getting too winded, I think I'll be content, now.

Speaking of which, I think you've inspired me to put some air in the tires (or, at this stage, maybe get new tubes and, possibly, tires), tune up the bike, and take it out -- if not today, then before long!

I liked what I heard of your previous one -- curious how this one turns out!

Thanks Mark. I may easily use the same tube preamp boards in this build too since I have extras on hand. I won't really know until I get the power amp section up and running and suss what it wants though. The custom chassis came in this morning and I hope to be making noise within a couple of weeks or so. I'm always inspired by Jonathan's awesome builds for sure.

Finally getting to play out some with my Saturn V. I can’t say enough about this amp! No more amp GAS! :)
