Briefly reviving this thread..
When I received my second-hand Remic green, it had an occasional crackle and the output seemed a bit low. I left it in with a new packet of silica gel (a big $5 one from a hardware store, not a tiny freebie from a shoe box). The signal is now clean and seems stronger. The improvement was noticable after a couple of hours, but seems to have continued over a few days.
There are a few online sources about condenser mics being affected by humidity and condensation. @rickwolff , maybe this was the case with your trial mic?
I will be storing silica gel with my mic when it is not in use.
