Restoration: Roadstar (II) to hell

Are you sanding between coats? Between the last two blue pics, there's a "thing" between the two pup cavities.

Sanding every two/three.
The 'thing' is a bit of dried paint that found it's way into my spraygun feeder/cup/hopper/thingamajig.

Experience has taught me that, as much as I really, reeeally want to flick it off then and there I should LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE until it's dry.

... might go and flick it off now actually... hold on....

*flick*

Gone.

Before you ask, the thing at the bottom is just a piece of masking tape covering the (sizeable) ground wire hole to the bridge.
... I should probably remove it though... wasn't really thinking.

This refinish embiggens my love for vintage Ibanez. ;)

That's the spirit! ;)

Right, y'know how I was going to do all the hardware in black... seems I lied.

I'll still be getting the neck plate engraved with a restoration date (using the Ibanez numbering/date system btw.), but after I'd cleaned it up, and given it a polish, I had to keep it 'relic-ed'.

... was just too pretty.

(and yes, I need to sand the finish again)

Couldn't agree more. Seems you are making all of the best decisions at the key moments.

For the record, I think there is no need to bondo up the bridge. It would probably be a nightmare to reproduce all of the right angles and radii anyway.

I think that this is going to be the perfect combination of what is old and what is new.

Carry on...

Man, that neckplate looks so good next to that cerulean blue! Two thumbs up! Good decision!
