Restoring a 70's 810

Been a few... I couldn't find the keyboard under all this saw/sand-dust. Got the back clean, and I should be finishing up the top, and making a dent in the last side... 1. Big. Dirty. Side.
Roughly 6 hours of stripping / sanding so far.

Took the day off yesterday and made some awesome progress on the cab! I finished sanding it to 220, picked up my stain / treatment / spar urethane. I even got to rub some stain into her!

Here's the last time you'll see the cab clean!

So, the Walnut really soaked up a lot of the persistent blemishes on the bottom of the cab like I hoped. I'm digging the color so I'm thinking I'll leave it with 1 coat of stain before moving onto urethaning. I'm really excited to see the rest of it stained! I bought the minwax wood filler to match my stain; the directions say to use it on finished wood so I'm thinking that I'll fill any necessary dings / holes after the first coat of urethane. Then I can sand it level with the 220 and apply additional coats of urethane.

Time to get my Fliptops order together for some hardware!

If I had realized you were trying to pop the grain, I would have suggested black before the walnut.

:p I'm too slow... But, I like where you are taking it. I wish more cabs offered a natural look. Tolex can get ratty after a few gigs. You doing a clearcoat on it, right *(yep, urethane)? Looking forward to after the weekend updates! I'll also be starting my jazz to passive marcus miller p conversion soon. Waiting on tools/money for tools.

FINISHED WOOD generally refers to wood that's dried, plained, FILLED, and sanded. You can buy finished wood board at hardware stores for example. Just cut, build, stain, and finish. I've never heard of a filler that's meant to be used AFTER staining and sealing. Might wanna double check.

Note: Stain, seal or topcoat before applying putty

I will certainly measure the compartments for you when I take the cardboard off of the front - before I put speakers back in. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this week and I'll be able to get the finishing done.
