Burgundyglo is a translucent finish. Ruby is a metallic red finish.

Kind of nice. Although I've been hoping that Rickenbacker would bring back a white finish. That limited run of white Rick's that showed up at Pick of the Ricks and The Music Zoo was just priced out of any reasonable person's comfort zone.

I wonder if they chunkied up the neck like they do on some of these COY runs. I have a Turquoise 4003 that is pretty chunky.

electracoyote-supposedly all the new bass necks have the same slim 2 piece profile on 4003's and 4004's alike. but as always,the status quo is subject to change. i would really like to check one out-next time i'm in the big city....

Personally, I think it's a terrific looking color.

I can definitely feel it. I found a great deal on a Midnight Blue Ric in a local shop last year, it had a fantastic tone, but I couldn't get past how the fingerboard felt.

I sorta have the same thing... but with maple fretboards. For some reason, every bass I've played with a maple fretboard, I just could not stand the feel, something seemed off.

I like the feel of the 4001/4003's finished fretboard, though.

If you don't, there's always the 4004.

Why? It's not like you can even feel it when you are playing. On a fretted instrument it really does nothing at all for the player, it basically just protects the fingerboard from dehydration and looks purdy.

My fingers never go below the string, below the fret, and onto the fretboard. I'm trying to imagine that and I'm having a hard time.

Love the metallic blue as well. I wonder if they'll offer that on a 4000 series bass. I hope they do keep the typical slimmer neck on these.

I might have to let go of one of my white 4003's for one of these. GAS is a beach.

The slim seems to have run its course. They're now more back to a *normal* profile shape.

That's cool too.

The chunky neck is, well, not for people who don't like chunky necks. I personally don't mind, I play P Basses and others with chunky necks, but I have other Rics with slimmer profiles, and when I pick up the Turquoise, it's a little disorienting.

I would LOVE one of those 12 strings! I could so get all "8 Miles High" on one of those bad boys LOL But I really dig this color. I don't really need a 4 string but it sure is pretty on the 4003.

Cool color. I think it looks too bright in some of the pics though. But it doesn't look bad. I've never even seen a Ric in person, but I'm sure it's an awesome color.

That's quite a shock to me. I thought the slim was such a hit they'd keep with it. I guess I'm glad I got one when I did, because I like it a lot that way.
