Every time I saw him give an interview - every time - he was ON!!!

He did an interview for a local (Sacramento) morning talk show years ago about a movie of his that was about to be released. He could have just been courteous and talked about the project; after all, big movie stars do countless interviews promoting movies. He could have saved his best for the Today show, the Tonight Show, etc. No, not Robin Williams! The interview was hilarious!!! His rapid-fire random musings were, as always, comedic gold. It made my morning.

Thank you, Robin Williams, for always being "on." RIP.

Tragic. Laugh in peace, Robin.

The guy could always make me laugh, he's had substance abuse issues going way back, and apparently depression. I did begin to lose respect for him later in life hearing about is early days, especially the night Belushi died, he was hardly a saint off the screen. Damn good on it though.

I had one twisted & screwed up childhood,& the first time I saw him on Happy days I was hooked,I begged my sister to buy me his standup album reality what a concept.I was 8 years old & practically memorized the whole thing. Mork & Mindy any movie stand up tee shirts, I inhaled it. the guy had me laughing my whole life, had me laughing through a lot of crappy times. my favorite movie of his Death to smoochy.I feel more towards him then when my Mom died.
He will be missed.

Tears of a clown

Be kind to others. You never know what kind of battle is going on inside of someone else. Life is hard and depression is all consuming.

Rest in Peace, Robin. Thank you for all of the laughs! One of a kind.

Man, what a loss. Like some, I got hooked watching Mork & Mindy as a teen. Then my buddy taped me a copy of "Reality, what a concept!" and I realized just how brilliant he was as a comedian. I got to see him live in 1982 when he performed at my school's homecoming. It was in a football stadium of 70,000+, but that was still the best standup performance I've ever seen, live or recorded. Funny, a bit lewd (enough to piss off some of the alumni, thus we got Bob Hope the next year) and touching.

And then there were the movies!
Bumped into him once in a health food store in SF, at first I thought a gorilla was going for the same fruit I was reaching for as all I saw was this hairy arm, then I looked up and realized who it was. He just smiled and kept foraging, seemed like a gentle soul.

My favorite performances: The Fisher King, The World According to Garp, Awakenings, What Dreams May Come and Dead Poets Society.
Damn, Brian, that just about matches my list! The Fisher King is underrated--by all rights, this should have become a cult classic in the DVD age. I also really liked his supporting turns in Good Will Hunting and Insomnia, and his voice work in Aladdin. I have long wanted to see One Hour Photo, it's time to do that.

RIP.

Just found out about this while I was at practice. What a huge loss! One of the funniest comedians of our time. There wasn't much of his work that didn't have me laughing my head off.

I'm completely stunned by this. The world is a lesser place now than when I woke this morning.

RIP Robin.
