It saddens me to hear that a man who gave the world so much happiness could not find it himself. RIP Robin Williams. U will be missed:crying:

Ugh. Remember Hook? I must'v seen that movie dozens of times. I heard they were gonna do a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel. Never my favorite Robin Williams movie, but I would've seen the sequel.

I heard a joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life is harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor... I am Pagliacci." Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.

RIP Robin Williams.

Don't know why this hit me so hard. I normally feel a small amount of sadness when someone I admire passes away, but this feels like I've lost an actual friend. And I never even saw the guy live (if you'll pardon the expression). My best mate (and former drummer) who I knew since 5 topped himself at 28 following the same 3D's - Drink, Drugs and Divorce. Plus he had a 2 yo daughter. "Sucks in the most unbeliveable way" is right, Im still not over it. I'm not quite back at the same place with William;s that my mate's death took me, but its facing that direction. I guess I felt I connected with him in some way.

Goes to show depression can effect anyone - even those with apparently nothing to be worried about. Please make an effort to let people know how much they mean to you.

I'll reiterate what others have said and admit that this news has hit me really hard. Although I've never been one to get emotional when a celebrity dies, Robin's passing truly feels like losing a genuine friend. He was a very familiar presence in my childhood, and he brought me, and millions of others, immense joy and happiness. He will most certainly be missed.

Wow that sucks. I don't usually care about celebrities, but this hit me almost as hard as Garcia, unexpected emotion. I hate feeling stuff.

I had that when Freddie Mercury died. Still don't know why, but his death hit me harder than most. I knew Robin Williams was severely depressed, so I wasn't shocked by yesterday's news. I was very saddened though. I knew someone that kinda sorta knew him, and he said he really was one of the kindest, gentlest souls you could ever know.

Man, this is really going to bring Bi-Polar disorder into the spotlight. Good. And R.I.P. RW.

There is something more important than the above that I think the world needs to start waking up to. The treatment of these ailments. And I don't mean that the way most people would think.

Robin Willimans WAS being treated. Medically. And it didn't work. Medication works for many, for a short while. And then much more often than not, it makes things exponentially worse. I've been really getting into this stuff for a while due to decades of personal experience, and experience with others. Psychiatry is on the wrong track, and while pharmaceutical companies are becoming rich, the world is getting crazier and crazier. And much more anxiety ridden and depressed. Lots I can say on this stuff. Lots you can read up on, too... if anyone wants to educate themselves a bit. There's a great book titled America Fooled that has some real eye opening info in it. A lot of info that's even easier to access though. This is a pretty informative place to start http://cepuk.org/.

I can't tell you how strongly I feel about the fact that we really need to start waking up about this. All kinds of twisted things are going to start coming out about Robin Williams "mental illness" but there will be little talk about how he may have been actually healed. Medication was not the answer for him, nor too many that I've known who went the same route he did.

Props to Conan O'Brien. He learned of Williams' passing near the end of his show's taping and handled it on the air in the best possible way. The full clip is here: Link Removed
