I know that here on TB the world is divided between fans of David Gilmour and fans of Roger Waters.
I also know that the fans of the second of the above two guys are in much less number than the fans of the first, notwithstanding the fact that this is a forum for bass-players

Anyway, just my two cents .. I consider the last solo work from Waters as the most Pink Floydian album ever recorded after "The Final Cut" .. ok, ok Final Cut is not a Pink Floyd's album (this is for replying to the comments of the Gilmourists that will be pouring down at this point), let's say then after "The Wall" .. now, open FIRE!

Dunno. Takes two. And after also listening to some of Gilmour’s comments, it makes me think the real story of what went down is nowhere near as straightforward as either David or Rodger would like us to think.
From my perspective, Waters was a real jerk leading up to, and for awhile after the breakup. And Gilmour is a bit of a jerk for nursing a grudge going into a fourth decade now. Because apologies, an admission he was wrong, and gestures of reconciliation have been publicly made by Waters on multiple occasions.
The only people who are really getting hurt by Gilmour’s ongoing snit are the Pink Floyd fans.

A music career most people can only dream of, and all the money and adulation that goes with that...and Roger Waters is still this bitter?

These men all behave in ways that defy logic. I just read something about the recording of Momentary Lapse of Reason where Nick Mason, "concerned that he was too out-of-practice to perform on the album, used session musicians to complete many of the drum parts and instead worked on sound effects."
***? They're ALL crazy. I can't begin to imagine what life would be like if it seemed reasonable for me to subcontract out my sole instrumental contribution to an album. By a band as big as Floyd. That was being recorded on a riverboat on the Thames.
Just pointing out that it's easy to cast some of these guys as villains or victims, or identify with one or the other, but don't forget that these are wealthy, spoiled, selectively greedy, self-indulgent, arrogant men.

For me PF is all about David Gilmour sorry (in a similar way as the Beatles is all about McCartney for me). There's several things I don't like about Roger Waters. First, well, the bass parts I like the most are played by DG. Then there's this demagogy (collectivist ideas aside) that's been a constant in Waters' career (once we all took notice his worth as a solo artist was crap). Then there's this SO BITTER attitude he's got towards other PF members, yet he exploits the thing to death (mostly a piece published 41 years ago with an accompanying completely naive film that hasn't stood the test of time -the music has tho'-). Has any of you seen/heard/read David Gilmour b*tch*n' like a resentful cockatoo? IDK, he looks and sounds much more relaxed, self-confident and mindful.
My favorite PF era was with Roger on board. Very gifted at expressing alienation, anger, angst, depression, worthlessness... Things a teenager could identify with.
I think it was a bit too psychedelic before and too dreamy and boring after.
Still, Roger is a dick, so there's that.

What’s done is done. Pink Floyd’s music speaks for itself, as does the individual output of each member.
What Roger Waters wants is access to Pink Floyd’s fan base (via their website), so that he’ll have a wider audience for his solo projects.
The fact that Gilmour’s wife is putting pointless drivel up on The Pink Floyd site, just gets on Waters’ tit, and it pisses him off.
It’s my opinion that the Pink Floyd website should be for Pink Floyd. Not Gilmour’s wife. Rogers and Gilmour are Pink Floyd, so why not have their solo endeavours in a separate part of the website?
But for that to happen they’d need to come to some sort of agreement... and I’m not so sure that’s ever going to happen.

Gilmour controls PF so he can put the Stones on there if he wishes.
Waters left PF in '85 and hasn't reconciled appropriately with those that manage the PF website to be invited on.
Really does not matter what any of us, as fans think.

You say we all took notice his solo work was crap... if you want to demonstrate you know nothing, please leave us out.
He did some great music after Floyd even if not as successful but to be honest, few were those who did better than PF.
Concerning the A.Parker movie, he wasn't the least involved in the script and publicly criticized it like having been deceived. Like he does with all which he didn't do himself. This movie by the way is still a good one.
And I'll pass on your political digression about collectivism.

Getting involved in friction among dudes like this is like arguing about who would win in a fight between Green Lantern and Aquaman. Which is a discussion I've had. Not pretending to be above it...
- Waters has since apologized and admitted wrongdoing.
- Waters has publicly stated on several occasions he does want to get back together.
- Gilmour does hold the keys.
- Gilmour has repeatedly stated, with emphasis, that a reconciliation/reunion is never going to happen.

It was really cool seeing them together in Live8, though.
People lost interest so much that we're up to 4 pages in this uninteresting thread.
