Not that I love Orwell the less, but Huxley more. For his prescience. No bayonets were required...
I find him kind of dated (though there's strong evidence that he plagiarized Brave New World). What do you think of PKD?
A propos Roger Waters, he makes the valid point that the Pink Floyd website has been hijacked by David Gilmour's wife for her own projects. One would think that there'd be a management company responsible for promoting the back catalogue and the work of former band members within the context of promoting that catalogue.

I've never read any PKD, so many books, so little time.
in other Floyd action, I saw the Nick Mason tour last year, and it was really really good.
Great players and singers performing all the pre-Dark Side material with light show, stories from Nick, the whole bit was really done well.
Way better than the last time I saw Roger a few years ago in a stadium.

It's a shame, really, but I think Waters expected to end everything when he had his final epic hissy fit in 1985, thinking that it would all collapse without his brillance...... and then it didn't, becuase Gilmour and Wright were the musical soul of the band all along. From everything i've read, everyone, even Waters himself, acknowledges that he was an Epic A**hole his last few years in PF, for reasons that had almost nothing to do with the other bandmates. I had hoped they could all just let it go, particularly since Gilmour has no desire to ever record or tour again under the PF banner without Wright, but if he did, it's HIS banner to wave, not Waters.
As Orwell was at best heavily influenced by Yevgeny Zamyatin’s (Eugene Zamiatin anglicized) book We.
Any amount of of one's time is worth absorbing PKD. Fortunately he wrote mostly short stories, novellas. There is time

PKD is well worth making time. There's no way in, except via the deep end. I recommend starting with The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch - Wikipedia.
I agree with most people that I really don’t care about Waters and Gilmour not getting along and am somewhat indifferent about a possible Pink Floyd reunion (based on most recent solo projects, doubtful lightning would strike again).
That said, I view Waters primary contribution as a songwriter his mark on history. The whole set of albums from Dark Side to the Final Cut are fantastic with The Wall being the absolute pinnacle to me. Who played bass on which song and how well people got along or did not recording an album is just not that important to me - the final product is - the music.

His only true novel-length work- though certainly not his only piece that is novel-heavy content wise.
I was going to suggest starting with short stories if time was one's issue for foregoing PKD-
However I must fully support your suggestion to jump right in with Palmer.

I listen to the music, not the artists problems with each other. I’m sure most people I listen to are fine humans, some are probably big buttheads too. Who cares, it’s the music that matters.

It was really cool seeing them together in Live8, though.
Agree although Gilmour's demeanor and expression when Waters walked over to him after their short set before they all took a bow had all the warmth of a Norwegian fiord at 2AM in February. It was that frosty. He and the band made it abundantly clear by their body language and the way they walked off stage that their Bob Geldorf orchestrated Live8 faux reunion was definitely a one time thing.

Off the Waters topic briefly-Its funny to me you find Huxley dated. Someone just posted this yesterday on a TB thread and I was telling the wife last night how timely this felt and was actually written in 1934.
For the record I prefer Huxley to Orwell. PKD cool too.
Aldous Huxley has always been one of my modern, favourite writers ..
