Roger Waters

Let's say Gilmour and Waters were to actually make amends. Does anyone really want to hear them collaborate again? They are both in their mid 70s. Their best work together was over 40 years ago. Both are still some of the most talented musicians rock and roll has ever seen.

One of my favorite bands ever. Their body of work is complete as it stands. There has certainly been worse reunions, but I'd prefer Pink Floyd to be what it was.

What I like about that clip is that 'Ol Dubya kept his eye on the incoming and dodged perfectly twice, he could be entertaining ..even when he wasn't talking.
He was also level headed when he spoke about the attacker afterward, he didn't get his feathers ruffled, a good quality for a man in his position.

I don’t think anyone here is really hoping or thinking Waters is wanting to or would join forces with Gilmour and Mason and whom ever on keyboards and do a huge world tour.

I think the man (Waters) sincerely wants to put this bickering and squabbling behind them and assume his rightful place as a founding member and long term member of the groundbreaking and much loved band known as Pink Floyd. I don’t think the issue is sharing the wealth or royalties-being the primary writer for a lot of their material I’m sure he’s doing ok.

I think he just wants to be visible on a site intended to represent the band . And so what, maybe hawk a little of his post PF output in the process. I think we can agree he has as much right to do so as Dave’s wife.

I basically lost interest after he left the band. I had an opportunity to see the post Rogers band in Nashville a few years back and declined the offer of a free ticket to the amazement of my circle that were excited to be going.

As always, this is my opinion and mine alone.

Excuse me for being so direct, but all this seems to me a pile of rubbish!
BEATLES IS ALL ABOUT MCCARTNEY?
so LENNON had nothing to do in the matter?
:roflmao:
So stupid as an assertion that I'll let it go...
:D
You say we all took notice his solo work was crap... if you want to demonstrate you know nothing, please leave us out.
He did some great music after Floyd even if not as successful but to be honest, few were those who did better than PF.
Concerning the A.Parker movie, he wasn't the least involved in the script and publicly criticized it like having been deceived. Like he does with all which he didn't do himself. This movie by the way is still a good one.
And I'll pass on your political digression about collectivism.
Better hear this than being deaf...
But you definitely hurt all senses...

Sorry, didn't mean to trigger. Hope TB keeps being a safe enough space for you. Thanks for your OPINION. Keep enjoying what you enjoy, glad to see you don't need validation, that'd be weak.

Ha! That guitar solo on Not Now John is a ferocius Masterpiece, like Gilmour is giving the world the Finger, though I think it's more likely he was giving it to Waters for being such a prick in those recording sessions. Waters was, by all accounts, pretty openly telling the rest of the band that they worked for him, the artiste. Small wonder it was the last straw for Gilmour. Again, I'm not getting the debate, Waters has more or less admitted he was a Grade A Jerk back in the Day, though I do wish Gilmour would let bygones be bygones. They created some of the best music ever recorded, that should be enough to secure at least a cordial relationship, if friendship is impossible. Gilmour's brief solo on Final Cut still makes me want to weep every time, the rest of the album is just depressing, self-absorbed Waters dreck. Take note of who is airing their gripes in public, and who isn't, which says a lot about the personalities involved.

Well, that's not what Waters is saying, but since you asked, sure, why not? Worse that can happen is it's crap, and you can ignore it. But Roger's recent stuff isn't too bad and David still rocks the guitar so what the hell.

Say what you want (blah blah) about Roger, but there has never been a better bass guitar opening to a song than this.

For every kid who hated the way he was treated by institutionalized schooling and wanted to really hit back at it, Roger got to live the dream with that song and film.

In all fairness, I should probably give that album another chance. I haven't listened to it in probably 25 years, and the only thing of it I can really remember is "Not Now John," so maybe there's a chance.

Yah wasn't till I was older I appreciated it. Didn't really get the social implications of post war Thatchers Britian when I was 18 haha

His voice going into the sax in gunners dream is goosebumps.

Without Rick Wright? I love PF, i love their solo stuff...I don’t really want this. Part of making a masterpiece (not that I’d know) is knowing when it is finished.

Especially since she wasn’t in office until some 35 years post-war, but ol’ Rog was never one to miss an opportunity to lay some blame. That said, I agree, there are some truly great (goosebumps) parts of that album, and I actually liked “Not now John” and thought it fit. Haven’t listened to it in forever and much prefer Pros and Cons, though.

I agree that there is no reason for a collaboration, but not because of the lack of rick wright. Waters has done just fine on his solo albums without him in my opinion. I still regularly listen to Roger Water's solo albums, probably as much as, if not more than the classic PF albums (probably only because I overplayed the PF albums in my youth). I can't say the same for any of Gilmours solo music.

I don't know if anybody else noticed this, but I watched that video of Roger & friends doing Mother.
At the very end of the recording when it's only Roger, in the last few seconds he says "Dave, I miss you darling".

It's not a perfect analogy, but it works. Imagine a familial setting, with Waters as the abusive, dominating husband and Gilmour the abused spouse. They stay together probably longer than they should, but once the husband walks out nobody should expect the spouse to someday make up and restart some form of the relationship because the friends & neighbors all thought they were such a great family back in the day, regardless of what the husband is telling everyone.

As much as I love Pink Floyd, I think they all need to come to terms with the idea that no one under 65 cares about their pissing matches anymore
Again, I seen no evidence that David Gilmour is trying to publicly grind axes.
When asked some time ago by some music reporter, he said there would be no more Pink Floyd records and he was busy doing other projects these days.
Covid finds a bored Roger and his attention seeking tendencies have gotten the better of him.

Why has Waters been banned from the site?
