Yeah. Isn’t that trespassing on all the billionaires and corporate moguls who use their wealth and status to influence politics in ways favoring their own financial interests and personal agendas?

It's odd how much we care about relationships between people we admire from afar but whom we have never and will never meet in person.

It seems to me that if you're trying to bury hatchets or rebuild any kind of relationship, even if it's based on business and not friendship, slamming the other guy on youtube is counterproductive.

Off the Waters topic briefly-Its funny to me you find Huxley dated. Someone just posted this yesterday on a TB thread and I was telling the wife last night how timely this felt and was actually written in 1934.

For the record I prefer Huxley to Orwell. PKD cool too.

Where propaganda is concerned, I go to the master, Edward Bernays - Wikipedia. Where discourses of power are concerned, Louis Althusser - Wikipedia. Vis a vis Huxley, the wheel is definitely coming back around again, but with the benefit of hindsight, his analysis is simplistic to the point of being worthless. Of course, he was very much on point in 1934.

Even so, society isn’t completely blameless. Once the trick is explained and you know how it works, if you allow yourself to continue to be manipulated, you’re as guilty as the perpetrators.

And the techniques of propaganda and mind manipulation have all been carefully documented and understood for several decades now.

I have no patience with willful or learned helplessness. “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” as the saying goes.

Ironically I believe this was Paul Mazur's pitch for Filene's, a luxury dept store, they are closing like crazy so I guess his vision in it's original sense failed. I wonder if, with the beginning of space exploration we won't see a shift in this, new frontiers, new worlds, brave new worlds ironically.

Well more than Roger's playing - it's the fabulous bass tone and overall mix and production that draws me into PF.
Meddle, Darkside, Wish you were here, Animals and the Wall just sound so amazing from a production standpoint and the bass is no exception. I've never really cared much about the arguments over whether Roger or David played this or that or whatever- the real genius was the tracks themselves, the way that the band evolved over each of those albums I mentioned, and how the sound is basically the pinnacle of what the analog technology of the day had to offer.

I love how Echos on Meddle gives little hints about what was to come on Dark Side of the Moon, and how each subsequent album points to the next. I see those five albums almost as one extended work and when I listen, I pretty much have to listen from Meddle to the Wall with no skipping tracks or shuffling. I usually listen to music in my car. So I'll start with Meddle and it will take me a week or so to work my way through to the end of the wall. I do this maybe three times a year and it's mind blowing every time.
