Roscoe Beck Forum?

I love RBVs but they are not a $1500+ used bass.

The market will dictate this, not our opinions. I've seen RBVs go over $1500 in completed listings several times, though I tend to agree with $1400-1500 as a median or mean value. Mine sold for $1400, but I never went to eBay with it where it might have captured a much wider audience.

I also follow Ric basses. You should see how the value of the 3001 and 3000 basses have shot up... For years they were regarded as an afterthought. And now the 2000 series basses are doing the same. I'm sure many 5-10 year owners are seeing double to even triple investment value on basses like these.

RBVs, as a discontinued model, fall in the same category. Demand will probably always exceed supply, at least for the next 50-100 years (after that maybe no one cares about them anymore except a small few). While this is still true the prices will keep on going up.

Ok. Just picked up a virtually like-new RBV. Pretty impressed so far. The neck is a bit more hefty than I'd prefer but it's still pretty comfortable. Question though. Where do you get a truss rod wrench to fit? Appears to be 3/16 but I can't get a right angle wrench to fit in the space between the pickguard and neck. Where do you get a wrench that will work?

Well you live in Calgary right ?
Well I was at the big Long and McQuade store there near Axe Music in early February on a visit--- and they had one of these new Dimension 2 Pickup models a $1995 plus tax in Ash with Maple board.
Well first I almost cut the fingers on my left hand from the razor sharp fret ends that were from wood shrinkage ?.
The sound was all over the place and VERY active sounding with no depth or richness. It took me less than 60 seconds to realize---for my tastes anyways--that the Roscoe beck is LIGHT YEARS superior in looks, sound, playability, and inventiveness. This new Dimension sounded like I was a G&L/ MusicMan hybrid trolling to catch un-suspecting Fender lovers--the Roscoe Beck is not like that--it totally sounds like MUCHO FENDER. I could not wait to get home to Toronto to play my RB5 after that experience:crying:

Glad to hear it - thought the active vs. passive might make a difference in how they compare soundwise. I got to play mine cranked through my SVT couple of weeks ago jammin' with some buds and I felt the closest to bass Nirvana that I've ever been able to attain!

The Genuine Fender Truss Rod tools work best

RBIV bridge adjustment/setup question...

I understand the 2 screws to raise and lower each string per saddle, and the one that lengthens each string per saddle at the back of the bridge, but what's that other single screw for that sits at the back of each saddle? Can't seem to find anything other than a diagram that identifies it as a "Set Screw". Don't want to just start cranking on screws just to see what happens, and I figure someone knows on this thread.

Diagram "Detail D Bridge Assy" on the bottom right of page 2. It denotes the screw as 33 & 34 as "set screw and washer".

Thanks in advance for any response to this question.

It locks the saddle assembly in place, a nice feature that sometimes makes adjustments more difficult... BTW, sweet bass, I have the same color with a rosewood fingerboard.
