Pretty frustrated about this cause I love everything about this bass but it's just not comfortable to play since I am a big guy with a longer reach.

For reference, here is a photo of my other 4 string. Really the main difference is the added length at the end of the fretboard. This one, and just about every other Roscoe has a litte extra meat after the 24th fret.... Never thought it would make that much of a difference.

If a bass does not work for me because of ergonomics, it does not work period. I have tried 3 different Ken Smith models, loved the tone and playability of every one, and couldn't make any of them "fit" me. All were sold with sadness.

The LG is the smallest Roscoe body, which many love for exactly this reason. However, if a certain one is not the right fit for you, you "have our permission : ) " to sell.

Think it's just the time, money and effort that I have in this is what is stinging me... Waited 8 months just to get the electronics from Bartolini, then once I put the work in to install the electronics, I noticed I didn't like how the action was. That ultimately got me to send the bass to Roscoe, that solved the action concerns that I had, but all of those things didn't change the feel. The whole time I was a bit concerned about the "tight" feeling when playing the bass, but I thought after I did all of those other things, I would just get used to it. I played the bass for about an hour last night and it just fought me. Picked up my other 4 string and it was a night and day difference.

These posts are really just me pissing and moaning about the situation since I really have no one else to vent to about this. So once again, thanks all.

Interesting about the action. I actually was strictly a 4 string player some years ago and have since switched to only 5's. I took a few 4 string basses to Keith (pre-plek) to have the action lowered. He told me both times that he inherently builds his 4 string basses with higher action as he finds most of those players to be more aggressive in their style. I thought the rational made sense but on the flip side I hated having the pocket tweaked or shims installed.

I got my Buckeye Roscoe with the Nordstrand DC's in and coil taps in time to play live with the band last night. Band mates loved it and knew instantly a change had been made. I can't wait to have the Nordtstrand 3B-5b preamp installed next month when they get more in. That setup kills in a live band mix.

Late to the party, but I agree with trusting your gut at this point. You put in $$$ to try to make it right, which is a solid effort towards it. You should move on from it when you are ready, and it's ok if you don't break even. It happens.

I doubt it would sell if I listed the bass for what I have into it currently. If I can sell it to get me close to a new ash bodied 4 string I will be happy.
