I finally had a chance to play my Roscoe Custom PJ 5 with a band today. Totally loved it! I swapped back and forth between it and my Custom with Roscoe Bart quad-coils and honestly could decide which I preferred. Different sounds but both really good. It's amazing how well both basses played. Both basses setup great and I honestly couldn't tell one from another (playing wise). Sound wise the SKB Signature definitely has a bit more of a compressed tone that the PJ but both cut through the mix well (just a 3 piece but lots of distorted loud guitar).
Sounds like you had fun! I bet the bird was singing along with the guitar.

Any of you Roscoheads (that have multiple Roscoes) noticed subtle differences in your Roscoes?
I was working on my PC the other day when I glanced over at my 2 Roscoe 5 strings in the stands and noticed that they had slightly different head stocks. Some of the tuners are positioned in a different locations and the routing on the head stocks is different. I guess some variation is the result of product improvements and some due to each being handmade.
No big deal. Just an observation.

Maybe one is from a Wednesday batch and the other from a Friday batch.

My two LGs are 25 years apart. But Keith did sign my headstock in gold sharpie rather than the black stamp, because it matched the sienna burst better. So there's that.
I'd post a photo, but it's at the shop getting some fret sprout taken care of. (I found out that one of the master builders from Gibson and then Heritage started his own shop out of his garage, so I took it to him. He builds and refurbs Billy Gibbons' Gibson guitars, so I figure he'll take good care of it)
Okay Joe, you made me look at mine and there are subtle differences that are obvious in the headstock and in the knobs placement. Both of mine a LG's, too!
Probably Keith's way of making each bass play and sound similar, but different. That Keith B. Roscoe!!
I would think that you would be able to find a good luthier in Kalamazoo. My Sweet 16 was made in Kalamazoo.
Ever since I sold my Pedulla Pentabuzz I've missed having and playing a fretless. I regretted selling that bass almost immediately. So when this Roscoe showed up in the classifieds I decided to pull the trigger and welcome fretless back to my world.
So with this one, I'm back in the Roscoe camp. Experiencing what Roscoe fretless is all about.
