Running

Final Update:

I just registered for the half which is going down next Saturday. I plan on sub-2:10:00 on race day. I've ran it twice recently; once rested and the other the day after a spin-class. When I was rested I ran it in 2:09:32 and the day after the class I ran it in about 2:20 ish.

Weight is sitting in the 195-200ish range and the holidays haven't helped in that regard. Bringing my total weight loss for the year to about 40 lbs. Looking to lower that number to the 175-180 range by the end of next year. All while increasing strength and flexibility.

Events for this coming year are going to be the Crescent City Classic (shooting for sub 55 minutes this time), a sprint Tri, and maybe another event.

Anyone else still carrying the running banner?

Well it's done. I ran 2:03:38 on an extremely hilly course. Had to walk 3-4 times, but I still ended with a 9:27 pace.

Great to get it under my belt, but I wish I could have ran the whole course because I could have broken 2 hours. Wasn't aware of that during the race though, I thought I was going too slow because there were no timers on the entire course.

Definitly a learning experience and I think I'm down for doing it next year also.

I am going to love getting reaquainted with my bike and the pool at the gym now that I don't have an event till late-April.

Just started running as a way of quitting smoking and getting into shape. I ran 1 mile and was ready to die, but I made it without stopping. It sucks trying to run when you're out of shape and a smoker.

I wish I had your willpower. I'm a moderate smoker and am going to school to be a firefighter. I need to get in better shape but I just can't seem to quit smoking...stupidest thing I ever started but damn I love cigs.

I've been into running lately...my latest run was 7 miles in 70 minutes. I'd like to do a triathlon sometime but I can't swim :hiding:. So until I get lessons, I'll just run (and bike). I'd like to do a half-marathon sometime this year.

Duathlon is what you need. A tri minus the swim. They have them here so they should have them everywhere. Be careful because I've seen weird ones (bike and canoe, etc).

Been getting ready for the Crescent City Classic 10k and added a few wrinkles to my training.

1. Runs on back to back days.
2. Mile repeats.

Fatigue is at an all-time high. My weekly mileage has been between 27-30 miles and it tops out at about 40.

Every run takes a few miles to find my stride because I'm stilling feeling the last run. Hopefully the extra speedwork/effort will pay dividends when I begin to taper two weeks before Easter.

Well I've finally gotten back into running form... I am back to being able to run a 10 minute mile, but i'm having a hard time with endurance in my lower legs yet.

Hopefully being able to do some 5k's this year, plus trying to get myself back under 200 lbs (15 pounds at the current time)
