Sandwiches!

Yep. That's pretty close to the house. I don't usually stop at Pinky's though. It's right next to Bravo, which was in a truck but move into the old Winchell's doughnut shop. A burrito from there is my idea of a really good thing. My son, who has become a burrito snob since living in LA, approves of Bravo. Hole in the Wall is downtown, not exactly in Pioneer Square, but close enough. You have to ask for their extra hot sauce, because they won't tell you about it. I like it a lot, and it's a good excuse to get out for a walk. It's on the way to Emerald City Guitars. That's a good reality check when work weirdness starts seeming normal.
Yea, i dig Bravo too

I make a killer meatloaf. I mix ground beef and Italian sausage with peppers, onions, mushrooms, crackers or bread crumbs, eggs, and a little Marinara sauce.

Today's sandwich was leftover meatloaf, extra sharp cheddar, romaine lettuce, and olive salad on sourdough. Pressed in a panini.

Went back to my newly discovered Philly Cheesesteak joint today ... it's officially in heavy rotation as one of my fave to-go places

Which one?
I used to go to Philly Joe's all the time in Tacoma. Joe was the real deal from Philly and made the best steak sandwich in the state. Well, for those who wanted a true to form Philly cheesesteak. It's closed down now, such a shame.
I tried Tag's a few times up by where Bass NW used to be, but it wasn't as great as it could have been. They had too many native PNW'ers working in there.

It's a dump called The Original Philly, on the east corner of the X where Rainier Ave crosses MLK Blvd right down the hill in the Mount Baker neighborhood (i live on Beacon Hill.) The owner and his wife(?) are from Phila (i grew up north in Wilkes-Barre), so i know it IS the real deal. I haven't had a chance to talk with him much yet, but he's always there supervising. Recommended quality cheap eats!

Those joints are the best. Philly Joe's was on South Tacoma Way, in a rougher part of the hood. None of the tables and chairs matched, paper plates and napkins, Philly sports crap all over the walls.
OK, I am totally going to stop by Saturday afternoon. I was born in Central PA, so like you, I know what a real deal cheesesteak should look, smell, and taste like.
For sure I'll chat up the owner, and I'll be rocking my Penguins hat since the Pens and Flyers play outdoors Saturday.

I just came from another of my fave take out sammich places (2 in one day!) It's a Vietnamese joint a quarter mile down Rainier from the Philly Cheesesteak place. Grilled pork with basically the insides of a spring roll inside a toasted hoagie bun, and i put lots of siriacha on there ... only $3.75! My spot has been hit multiple times today with deliciousness :)

That sounds awesome. I've had some of those sandwiches and they are just not mainstream yet, but they are good.

The wife and I just left. Wow, that was really, really good. Just like back home.
The joint was super packed, 30 minutes just to get my sandwich, so I didn't have a chance to chat with the owner. I did get a head nod when I asked for a Philly with Whiz.
I was shocked they had Whiz. That tells me right these these folks are legit.

This was a great recommendation @catcauphonic. Thank you.

What do you get?
I just like the traditional cheese steak.
I tried the fries too. They were also great, had some flavoring on them. Sort of like Johnny salt.

1st time i had the no frills CS, and since then been getting the CS Hoagie (that's even an East Coast term!) that has lettuce& tomato on em ... And their krinkle cut fries are terrific. Only thing i was a little disappointed in so far was when i got a side order of wings instead of fries one day .. they were just like mini fried chickens, but lacking in spicy sauce to dip with. That's ok, i got other fave places for wings
