SBMM Stingray Short scale

Does anyone know if it will fit in a Mono Guitar Sleeve? The M80 is a bit more than I can afford.

I'm not sure the exact length of the Ray, but the inner dimensions on Mono's site say that the Vertigo is 41.5", and the Sleeve is 41". I'd measure the bass to confirm if I was you, I feel like it's pretty snug in the Vertigo, but I'm not sure if it's so tight that half an inch would make a difference.

I am currently using it! A fairly tight fit with bigger strap locks (e.g. the ernie ball ones). Works better with the stock strap lock. Removal of bottom foam piece is required for both (can be stuffed on the side though). Hope it helps! Happy holidays! :)

Thank you! What foam piece do you have on the bottom part? It looks thinner than the normal bottom part.

Also, the black tuners on the head look nice! What did you put there?
:D

Thanks! I'll have to measure when I get back home. I've only been gone two days and I already miss playing it!

Measuring my blue Birdy, it's 41" from bottom to tip of headstock. Add a bit for the strap button.

Not sure if I like the Gator Transit better, or the Levy's Delux. Levy's Deluxe Gig Bag for Electric Guitars - Tan

I just know I would prefer tan, and would also like a bag that protects pretty well.

Hey y’all I just got this beauty a couple weeks ago and finally found this thread. Really enjoying this bass.

For the look I would go with the Levy’s. I think the interior color goes better with the RAY4. The Transit has that bright red which is not pleasing to my eyes. However, I would also consider which one offers better protection. I was deciding between the transit and the pro go by gator. I went with the pro go b/c it had better protection and I liked the interior over the transit.

BTW I just measured the thickness on the pro go and it’s 1.5 inches or 38.1mm thick.

So it mutes/dampens the strings? So notes ring out less?
That’s right. It reduces the need for right hand muting and also lessens string noise if your fingers or hand happen to hit a string your not trying to play. It doesn’t make a huge difference but enough that keep it there.

I don’t think this is the thread I can across the idea on but here’s one. Carol Kaye's method of muting open strings with felt

Apparently she used felt? I just used a piece of foam leftover from installing the AC unit. It just barely touches the strings. They still sustain plenty but the decay is a bit quicker and I just like the sound a bit better with it.

Forgive me if this question has been asked before but if anyone here has purchased a custom pick guard for this bass I’d love to know who you bought it from. I’m feeling this thing really needs some tort. Just kidding. But I’d like a little contrast with the white.

I sent in my template to Precision Guitar in Arizona through Reverb.com. It took him 3 days to make the template before he shipped my new pickguard and my original back. I also bought a guitar pickguard from them last year with not problems. However, I heard other people who bought after me were experience long delays. Maybe due to covid. I would contact them and ask what the deliver time is. Also, it depends on what they have in stock. In stock items will ship faster as compared to waiting for the color you want to come in. That’s great. The fact that they already have the template makes it so much easier. I’m in no rush. But I knew even before I bought this I wanted to put a customized PG on it. If I have to have a toilet seat let it be a throne!

There's also Ben at Invalid Link Removed who makes wooden ones. I don't know if he's done one for these basses yet, but you could be one of the first. He has done some really good work for @TK4261 who posts here and at the Short Scale club.
