I chiseled and filed a through hole square. The height of the dice are a hair less than the thickness of the headstock so you can see them from the back too.

Getting ready to start applying dyed wood binding.
It was my dad's. My brothers are jealous.
I've been steam bending and installing the first bits of the wood binding. I started with the cut-outs.
Progress has slowed to a snail's pace. To help explain, I have developed Groggy's Razor - The time required to complete an instrument body increases exponentially in relation to the number of fiddley little components. Thus, two and three ply wood binding, front and back, on three bodies takes too long.

There are three weeks left. I need to get real mapping out my to-do list against the calendar. The final bits of binding will be on today. The remaining tasks are:
- one headstock needs shaping
- cut pick-up and jack holes
- sand
- grain-fill
- finish
- assemble
- wire
- string & set-up
I finally reached a milestone worthy of a picture. All binding is complete and scraped and the bodies are sanded.
I have grain filled the tops and bottoms of all three since taking the picture.
The middle "Ukrainian" one will need a light sand and finishing. The other two need extra work on the sides. I picked up some black tolex in case I can't bring them up to my satisfaction.

Hey Jeremy, I saw this picutre on your website - I love it! Consider that idea stolen.
Looking at this photo again, I'm not sure which idea you meant: the playful fret dots or the adaptive vise insert.Consider that idea stolen.

I may be weird, but I noticed the vise insert first.
The tolex is on the sides of the two that need it. The tailpieces and ground wires are installed. Holes for side jacks are drilled. Tomorrow, I start on wiring.
