Really glad you put this up there. And I thought I was going crazy in my old age. Noticed quite a bit of difference between my passive stuff, and Actives, while leaving Amp and Pedal settings the same. Not planning on any Mod’s soon, but now I know I’m not the only one. Thanks Again!!

This all started out as stuff on my “Bucket List”. Back in like 06’-08’ when my Son’s band broke up and people were headed off to College etc., lot’s of stuff got sold, mine included, to pay for school etc. On my part, two of my biggest regrets were selling my Stiletto Custom 5, and my Scorpion 4 Bass. I was recently going through some old purchase receipts to get rid of things that were no longer owned, and remembered this one. I know that I purchased it new and got the hard case also. It was not the “Tribal” model with the extensive neck inlays. Seems to me (and I could be wrong here) there were a couple of variations on these back then, could be the year that they were made. Pretty sure the one that I had was “string through the body” and the bridge was different than what you see on some of the current stuff for sale. If someone is looking for something like this currently in a “player” grade, the one that GC in Memphis has is a killer deal at like $249.00 or something, go for it. If you ASK they will send you additional pictures at your request. Just passing that along for what it is worth. Currently looking for some hard copy 35mm pictures of stuff we owned back in the day taken for insurance purposes etc. Might be able to find some actual photos there. Currently into the the Schecter 6’ers. One in hand, another on order, so like other stuff, not absolutely necessary, just some things that would be nice to have.
Now that the preamp is gone, do you (or can you) still use all the control knobs on the Stiletto? Or are some of them not needed, now that it's not active?
They wired both pickups to a single tone pot, like a jazz bass. I could not think of a good use for the other tone knob, and I guess they could not either so it is not wired to anything. It is a dummy knob and pot.
So now it is master volume, pickup blend and tone.
The stacked tone control is definitely EMG, the others look like what EMG used before they went to all quick connect pots.
Nah I googled the pot codes and they came up to cheap allixpres parts at $2.74 a peice...yea the BTC is for sure EMG however all the quick connect parts have been removed. Makes it a nightmare for me to swap this into VVT as the only 25k vol pots I have are EMG quick connect not sure how I can solder to those lol
You should be able to easily figure out the pins on a quick connect diagram and solder wires directly to the pins.
All the wires are color coded on the diagrams so you can follow them from point to point and draw it out if nessesary. If you struggle with it, let me know, I could drawl it out for you on paper and take a photo to send you.
Well that's the thing I don't know how you could solder to something which is half quick connect half solder as the wires coming off the BTC have wayy more wore ends then I'm used to seeing. I have three basses that are BTC/V/V and this one has waaay more wires by far.
I wonder if I could snip off those soldered wires from the old crap pots and throw new quick connect ends on them....as I have a tonne of EMG quick connect wires. Like a bag full.....anyone need any VLPF pots or active tone controls let Me know.
Now you're thinking. Why solder when you can plug to it if you have the quick connect's.

Funny, LOL ! I'm looking for a good deal on a Lefty dUg Bass just to swap out necks. May end up modding the Lefty to play right-handed. Be easy to move the pot to the other side and I've got some little black plugs. Don't think the output jack would be a problem.
I acquired this Black Beauty last year, and haven't been able to find out very much about it. I really like it, then again, I really like all of my basses, but this one seems kinda special. From what I have learned, they may have been made in Dallas, or maybe Asia, IDK. Schecter changed hands a few times back then.
I think it was made in the mid '80s, but again, not sure.
It's just shy of 11 pounds, and solid as a rock, fairly chunky neck, push-pull volume pots, and some pretty cool aluminum(?) side dots, that visually stand out very nicely.
Tuners and neck plate are branded with the old Schecter block logo, but no markings on the bridge. It's not plywood, it's a chunk of something, and not very resonant, but heavy sounding, maybe because it's so dang heavy, LOL!
Any info to share would be greatly appreciated

How common is it for neck pocket size to be the same between brands? I am wanting to get a Schecter CV4 (love the body shape/pickups/electronics) at some point and was curious if the neck pocket would take a Fender Jazz neck? The Schecter is a 35" scale and I don't know if I'd be too keen on that. Also I just like Jazz necks. Also would it be an issue with the Schecter being 6 bolt, would the heel of a Fender neck be big enough?
Or is that the kind of thing you could have made by Warmoth? (Which would probably get pretty expensive)
I did a quick search online to try and find the neck heel size of the CV4 and couldn't find it. If anyone has one and could measure that'd be amazing!!

The CV4 on Schecters website specs a 34" scale. The CV5, 5 string specs @ 35" Scale.
As far as neck pockets between brands, it hit or miss and usually miss. IMO, it's likely that the CV4 neck pocket is unique to the Bass but, you may find something else that was manufactured in Indonesia that interchanges. It's hit or miss. Maybe you'll get lucky and someone has the dimensions.
I have 4 Schecter Model T's from various years and only 2 of the necks interchange.

My CV-4 has a neck that is so close to my fender jazz that my left hand can't tell any difference. They will not interchange, the Schecter neck is better so why even try?
