Dedicating this post to EdBo as he gave me some advice on some work and other upgrades I made to this bass.
I received this in a trade and it wasn’t in great shape. The bridge pieces were worn and corroded with some set screws frozen. Fretboard was dry and dirty. The HZ pickups just weren’t doing it for me either. Over the past 6 months or so I’ve replaced the bridge pieces, cleaned up the neck with some of that awesome Dunlop 65 lemon oil and just last night added in an EMG 40CS in the neck position and an EMG 40DC in the bridge position. Two volumes, Two tones, simple. EdBo, this is for you. Godspeed.

Well done, well shown, and well said -- about EdBo and the bass.
Dude you picked a good bass to mod. These Stilettos have good bones. Neck feels great, good fretwork, good tonewood (mine is mahogany & maple), and good build quality overall. I felt the same way about the HZ's. What I did here was install two EMG 40P5's and an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. That was all it needed!
I've bought used Stiletto Elite last year just as a back up, but instantly fell in love with it's ergonomics. I've also wasn't happy with stock EMG HZ sound in series(to muffled imho), but in it's defence I have to say I found it sounding better in parallel. Especially inner coils in parallel. 5-way rotary switch spices things up a little

Thanks. I try to stay away from onboard preamps. I’m not a fan of stacking too much EQ along with whatever amp or rack preamp I use. Not opposed to giving something like that Agliar preamp a try.
Don't get me wrong, that wasn't a "this is what you should have done" comment, I LIKE what you did. I had considered running those pickups without a pre. But curiosity, and the fact that there were 5 pot holes to fill (my ocd could not have allowed one to go unused) compelled me to find a good pre. The Aguilar has a warm tone and pushing the highs just gets you more growl not trebly noise. As far as stacking EQ's, you are right, my best results have been leaving the amp flat and boosting the pre or vice versa.
Looks like I stumbled upon the right company. Definitely looking foward to seeing more of the amazing instruments from Schecter.
I have quite a few from this company, most all are of the Stiletto variety. They happen to be some of my favorites. Two 5’s, two 6’ers and an Octave 8.
I really wish my 4 was an 8. I really need an excuse to play it more. I might take a look into converting it, if the neck profile is the same from 4-8.

My Schecter Studio 5 came out of a Guitar Center, and the Ernie Ball strings are close to needing replaced. I have ordered DR Hi-Beams (45-130) and wanted to get other schecter owners feedback on how the DR's sound on schecter basses. I can always go back to EB #2849 of needed. What strings are you sporting?
Can’t help you there as I still have the stock EBs on mine.
I have EB cobalt flats, EB cobalt rounds and some Black Beauties to try on her.
I have just been too lazy to do it at the moment. I think black beauties are on deck. I have Never tried them before
