Schecter Owners Club, part 3

Please excuse the fingerprints and flash but I wanted to post my news- I just installed the lowest four strings from a set of D’Addario EXL165-5 and tuned my Schecter Raiden Special-4 down to ADGC. That’s right, BEAD down one step. My other two basses are tuned DGCF and I wanted to see what this would be like. When D’Addario sent out a perk for Players Circle members I ordered a free set of XLs and went for it.

So far, so good, though I wonder if I should have gone for ProSteels instead (which were on the Raiden before).

I’ll be playing it at church this Sunday. I’ll have to train myself to use the A-string with discretion but I’m excited to hear how it sounds through the church’s system!

Not sure about the color balance on my screen. Is that the purple Stiletto Studio? Regardless, that's one beautiful instrument!!

Interesting. I don't think I've seen that on their website. Was it a custom order? Again - that's a beautiful instrument. Absolutely wonderful!

Okay, all...just installed a Schaller bridge, some Q-Parts knobs, and Gotoh Res-o-lite (GB350) tuners. The tuners cut a good bit of neck dive, and they're smooooooth turning.

Hey all Schecter lovers just bought my hellraiser extreme 5 and I want to replace the b64eq bass/mids/treble pots with this in picture so I will have high/low mids which is this my best bet or will this not work? Thx Brian

I don't have that particular bass but I did something similar on my ESP bass.Iif you mean replace your preamp with bqs control then yes it will work. The only issue you'll have is finding a matching concentric knob colour for your mid control lol

Thx for reply. My only other concern is the stacked mids control board not fitting in bass cavity.

A very sharp chisel will work wonders on that control cavity.

I could measure the mid control board on mine if you like. I am pretty sure it is the same size as the board attached to the b64eq.

Yeah I forgot about the vmc in picture so I will just use this and replace the stock mid with the vmc.

I didn't have any issues with the BQS control. Its pretty easy to maneuver but your right, the variable mid control is probably easier to fit space wise. The one thing you'll lose is the high frequency dip switches though. I'd check that out before choosing to make the switch.
