Look dude, this is the internet. There are no teachers looking over us. And quite frankly, spelling, or lack thereof, is a technicality on forums. Honestly.
I see it like this. Is the statement more important than the spelling?
Lets say you read a post that says something like :" Today I beat my kid cuz I was drunk and he wouldn't shut up."
Are you going to give him a row for writing out "cuz" ?
lighten up francis ! no one here is that stupid that we couldnt decipher a sentence if there were a few minor grammical errors.

But why should we? If the writer can't be bothered to put in the work to write clearly, why should the reader be expected to do the extra work to understand them? That's just expecting someone else to pick up the tab for one's own laziness.
Everybody makes mistakes sometimes, but if someone doesn't care enough to even try, then I am not going to put any effort into reading it. People who say that proper spelling and punctuation don't matter should be ashamed of themselves.

Is this why you never read my posts?? By the way how are you, Mrs Phonic and the kids. Good I hope.

Their is also acceptable, particularly when one wants to write in a gender-neutral manner.
The OED disagrees with you.
