Schpelling

are you an english major ? or some sort of trouble maker ?

Here, let me correct your sentence for you:

"Are you an English major or some sort of trouble maker?"

As you can see, the first word of a sentence is always capitalized. Also, English should be capitalized and your whole statement should have only been one sentence. Never begin a sentence with 'or'. To answer your questions, I am not an English major and I'm not a trouble maker. I asked an honest question that for the most part seemed to spark interesting views for both sides.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some essays to grade for class tomorrow....

I can take it, but as an older guy, it definitely matters to me. Maybe it's just my prejudices, but it sure seems that the more intelligent posts tend to feature better use of the English language. I see it as a matter of if something is worth doing, it't worth doing right, or at least putting in a decent effort.

One thing I just can't handle is posts by people who have no concept of using paragraphs to break a post up into manageable, self contained blocks of information. I see a pile of words strung together without any paragraph breaks and don't even bother trying to read them.

Sorry. No, not really.

I'm the opposite I guess.

I'm often guilty of the bad use of proper paragraph structure.

Except its not that I don't break things, I often over do it.

So much so that I typically find myself going back, & clumping things together I had already split up.

^See!

Hmmm - interesting that I should stumble across this. I just saw a post on Facebook that baffled me because the spelling was so deliberately bad. I think it's an affectation rather than just laziness. People think it makes them look fashionable in some weird sort of way.

The occasional minor error doesn't bother me too much. But wilful mangling of the language seems to be just revelling in dumbness for its own sake.

Look, the mods changed the results of the Fantasy TBOT moderator poll. I believe this is reason to believe they are also changing peoples spelling, grammar and intent by screwing with punctuation. This is NOT a conspiracy theory. See the "spelling" thread. It is now misspelled. This is FACT.
I want to be exonerated and my points dismissed. This is actually pretty disrespectful to us!
