Schpelling

(and don't get me started on some of the things that relatives who teach in college show me that their students have actually passed in as work, holy cow. )

My gf is an English tutor at Chaffee College and works grading papers for English teachers in her off time.

What you speak of, Ive seen it. :scowl:

Seems to me when we first joined this place the forum software had a spell check feature. Wonder what happened to that?

The bad spellers broke it.

Same with IE... because, like, you know, only dumb people use IE and dumb people need spell cheque.

I use IE :(

I done see no spiel chick

Does the sheer volume of misspellings seen here on Talkbass bother anyone? Or does the fact that I'm pointing this out bother anyone? Or maybe are you bothered because you didn't realize there were that many misspellings and.....

Never mind :rollno:

Nope, most are sent from mobile devices that choose a word it thinks you meant AutoCorrect or speech to text which I use sometimes and with my Jersey accent it has no clue what I am talking about ha, ha, ha.

You really didn't understand what he was saying?

I understood, I just dont agree that typing a post from a cell phone is any excuse for poor spelling and grammar.

As I said earlier, I easily overlook many errors so long as a post is comprehensible (the poster whom I replied to barely falling within the acceptable range for me, thus my reply).
However, I post to facebook from my cell all the time. I still make the effort to proofread my posts before submitting them. And yes, the occasional spelling error does slip by.

In other words, dont blame the technology, blame the user.

Same thing. You do have the ability to correct your posts before submitting them.
Not doing so, IMO, is the laziness that people have previously mentioned in this thread.

Meh... Bad spelling doesn't bother me nearly as much as people who constantly use logical fallacies... I hate that!

On spelling. I blog and try to get spelling right. But I fail sometimes. I am usually busy with a bunch of stuff and don't take the time to spell check... Have other things to do. And then there's auto correct. I have a guy who visits my blog, and he is very persnickety about spelling. He's my self appointed editor... The pay sucks though.
