Okay, so I'm thinking the 1212, any big difference between the 1210 and the 1212?

For me, the 1210 is punchier... the 1212 has more low end. Not that the 1210 lacks low end... it doesn't. I can get a lot snappier high end out of the 1210, than I can the 1212. Part of that might be due to the fact that my 1210 has the "selenium" tweeter, and the 1212 has the normal titanium tweeter. Without making it sound like it's "round", the 1212 has a lot more low end presence, than the 1210. However; it's still pretty punchy. The 1210 likes the slap/pop stuff better than the 1212, the 1212 loves the fingerstyle stuff. However;---- either one does the other very well.

My ss amps sounds great with the 1210. My all tube amp sounds great with the 1212. Every amp I have sounds awesome with both of them together.

My suggestion.. get one of each....

Hey Son of Bovril-not to be cocky :rollno: ,but,I'm pretty sure that the 310212 will blow those two Harke cabs out of the water :D -in fact I'm pretty sure my 410 cab would do the same :hyper: ,its even possible that a 1212 would sink those two Hartkes ;) -"just the facts Ma'am!".....you may not need a roadie :hiding: ...

has a double cabinet Hartke Stack 410 and 210 the original series, not the transporter + a Hartke 3500 head to push it. He's in a 9 piece horn band doing lounges and weddings/events. They have a tremendous JBL PA that one of my bands has rented (with the bass player as the soundtech and his sons did the heavy lifting). that everyone is mic'd through.

He's the kind of guy sense of humor wise who really likes to bust your chops. He came up to me during the gig we had a week ago where I decided to just bring my 1210 and Focus head where he was using his Hartke stack when I saw him three weeks prior. He comes up to me and says "not only do you suck (which means he really likes me) but seriously I can't believe how loud that lilttle f'in cabinet is and how good it sounds.

He sat in with my band where I actually got a chance to listen to it tonewise and it was balanced throughout the bar and very clear, punchy, and hearable where our PA speakers didn't cover the room, like on stage and the dancefloor. When I sat in with his band on a couple of tunes (Ibanez 5 string + Hartke rig) His rig wasn't anywhere near as clear anywhere within the room, either directly from the Hartke rig or supported by the PA. AND my total rig weighs 51 pounds. His is closer to 105. Of course, he's got his burly boys to lift his stuff...I don't!!!

I like the tone better of the 1210 as I've mentioned before but since I play mostly now at larger party centers, hotel and other banquet facilities, church social halls, country clubs and now go the the PA every gig, I want to sound as good as possible on stage and produce a tone that the PA can replicate into the room as best as possible considering the varied acoustics we're facing every gig. So' I've decided I'm taking the 410 to more of them, especially the first time. If we go back to that room, depending on the acoustics and size, I'll obviously decide which cabinet to bring back.

I feel the 1210 is a nicer sounding cab in better acoustic rooms up to midsized, and the 410 sounds better in crappy sounding rooms, even small to medium sized, and any sounding rooms larger. The big difference is in the crappy sounding med rooms and the larger rooms in general. I can cut through in a med large and larger room with the 410 on stage and can do the room without much if any PA help AS LONG AS the other band members don't object to the stage volume.

What I'm saying is you may want to consider the type of rooms/venues you're playing in as another determinant of which Schroeder might be the best for you, but, as usual, you should talk to Jorg directly before deciding.

Have fun

Hi,
if someone who knows would indulge me (I don't want to read back thru this thread):)
I can't find this offered on the Schroeder website. Does he offer a 1010? or is this a typo?

1010 - 1x10 Front Loaded 1x10 Side Loaded + Horn 700 Watts - 8 ohms

Link Removed

thanks!

I believe he originally offered a 1010, but discontinued it. You might check with Jorg directly.

I am just adding my 2 cents to this 2000+ thread. I needed a cabinet and was pretty much set on a Schroeder. I tried a 1010 and was quite disappointed.
The tone wasn't there. Not that it really matters because once you play with the drums and the g**** it doesn't make a difference anyway which tone you have.
But the thing that made me change my mind is that the 1010 didn't like the low B of my Zon... it was distorting like crazy.
I settled on another cabinet. :D

I will say hell yes it will blow away the hartke stack. It blows away my bxt stack, which was arguably louder and cleaner than a hartke stack...

For those going from a full stack, I think the 3101212 is a great alternative, I may be just a bit biased though ;)

I'm not usually one to rave about gear, so that's got to say something.

The 12 inch front firing speaker in the 1210 and 1212 is much heftier a speaker than the 10, at least in my cabinets. Did you try out the 1010 at a store or a live gig? Could you please tell us what head you were using and if you may have either on the bass or on the head used some fairly extreme bottom boost settings?

What did you end up buying by the way? Did you get a chance to try out any other sized Schroes or just the 1010? I don't know what the success/satisfaction levels are let alone even how many of the 1010's ended up being sold.

The 1210, 1212, or larger cabs seem to be the vast majority of purchases and have pretty much had a 90+% "happy to estatic" rating on the reviews turned in. Of course not everyone who was unhappy wrote up some sort of review but of the, I'm guessing 30+ of us posters that sorta monopolize the Megathread nowadays, I think there was only a couple that didn't like the sound. This is the first I've heard of the B string not being handled well so I'm wondering whether it's just because of the front loaded 10 not being hefty enough, a bad speaker or defective crossover, which doesn't happen often but can happen, or maybe there was not enough headroom, preamp overdrive created by extra bottom boost from the bass, or an weak battery in the Zon? (I"m fishin' here, just listing the typical stuff my technician would ask me if I brought in my rig with this problem) and whether others have had this issue.

I'm sure Jorg would like to know as we would, about as much of the above details of your B string issue with the 1010 as you'd be willing to share. He and the happy Schroederites really DO UNDERSTAND that these cabinets are not gonna fit everyone's taste, circumstances, style, and/or needs tonewise or otherwise.

Good luck and sorry it didn't work out for you.

I feel I have to chime in here;
Of course our sound imaginations vary and that's a blessing;
but the particular 1010 you tried out had suffered damage during shipping, which we found out later, that's why it distorted. Normally all Schroeders handle a low F# with ease.

thanks everyone for the tremendous support.

Sincerely,

Jorg

all i can say is DAMN they are expensive..... most expenvie cabs i've come across atleast

You haven't been shopping for cabinets very long then have you?

Look up:

Epifani
Bergantino
Accugrove
Acme
EA
Glockenlange
Techsoundsystems
etc.etc.

They aren't dirt cheap, but they are exceptionally priced for what you're getting IMO.

The price is very reasonable for the quality, a lot of mass produced cabs start hitting in this price range. Yeah, they're large cabs, but consensus says, any my own experience, that the smaller schreoder cabs can keep up very well.
