Schroeder Cabinets ... smart design = very compact ! (regular and lights)

The more I've played my Schroeder 410 with the yorkie head the more I like it-but I think the main reason for that is the speaker cabinet design. In practice the tone that projects through the mix is just awesomeand powers the band like no cab I've heard in a long time. I have to go back to my Acoustic 360 amps with the 361 powered cabinets that were a rear folded horn desin with a massive rear -facing 18" cerwin-vega that was WAAAYYY louder than anticipated for its reported 240W RMS rating ...one of these were probably louder than 6-7 fender Dual Showman amps in the day-the Acoustic amp cut through the rest of the noise in the band and was right there in your face-you could feel it in your chest at 40-50 feet, although on stage, when playing, you really couldn't tell how loud you really were-the soundmen always complained that the acoustic amps were too loud and kept telling me to turn down.Jorg Schroeder seems to have solved this problem by incorporating the front firing speakers PLUS the side firing speakers in his specially designed baffled cabinets that seem to sonically aid the wave length to disperse bigger and louder sounds than usual from normal front firing 10' speakers-producing better lows that don't breakup, have better tone, and a "longer throw"- as well as better punch and volume while your'e on stage so you can hear yourself better. What a great time we bassists live in. Oh, and Jorg sent me casters today.... and can you believe it -he wanted to just let me have them for free....so we "jokingly" argued back and forth on the internet for a while-and when he saw that I would just send his business a "gift" if he refused payment-finally, he stopped arguing this point with me...... if he won't accept payment, how's he supposed to make $. And since he sent no bill for the casters-I'll just make up my own "High Price"...What a great company run by a great guy...and thanks Talkbass for turning me onto Schroeder cabs....NO MORE GAS!

i figure i'll toss my hat in here being that i'm about order a 1212 for myself in the comming month :D If this thing doesn't sound great i'm comming for you all! :p

Why yes, if you get the 8ohm version and find you don't like it...please do 'come after' me. I'll take it off your hands. I don't need it, but I'd like a backup.

Haha i'm getting it in 4ohms. It's gonna be my stand alone small-medium gig cab. If i need anything more later, i'm grabbing a NV215, and a "big box" schrodie if i like the slap sound i get out of it.

I have been getting SOOO excited reading through this thread that I almost wet myself! (ish :hiding: )

I thought, "I'll just read through it all before posting..." and so I have spent the last two days reading. Upon reaching page 27 i thought "I'll just see how many more to go..."

Well I nearly spat my tea all over the keyboard!!@!

ONEHUNDRED AND FORTY BLOODY TWO!!!!!

I've now given up on the idea of reading it all. :D I'm now SERIOUSLY gassin' for a 1210 or a large box cab. I'm in the interesting position of being without a rig at the moment as I sold my AMPEG SVT3 and 410HLF cab to fund a ticket to Oz. The thing is, I won't be back in the UK until about September so I can write off buying one of these now (which is a very good thing seeing the state of my finances). However I'm already scheming ways of saving up the necessary cash to buy one of these and a suitable head (iAMP800?, DB750?).

I just LOVE the idea of turning up to a gig with a little box that does all that my Ampeg rig could do and more!!! :D No more back breaking lifting!

Dammitt. I got over my GAS about a year ago but now it's back with avengance. So... 2 questions:

1) Does anyone know if there are any of these cabs in the Sydney, Australia, area that the owner would kindly let me try out?

2) Has anyone had one of these shipped to the UK yet as I'm trying to figure out a cost (Not worth bothereing Jorg yet, I'm a way off buying one for the moment.)

Thanks for bearing with the waffle! :D (I just had a snooze BTW and I was dreaming of Schroeder cabs. How sad :rollno: )

Who would that be good sir? I know that peteybass was involved with this thread very early on and he's localto me. I checked his profile tho' and it didn't list a schroeder so I assumed that he either didn't buy one or didn't update his profile.

If'n you check popinfresh, you'll see he's got a 4x10. Don't know if he's in your area though...There might be others too. Drop him a pm.

Cheers mate. Will do.
Mohawk Freak-youre in luck! I guess you hadn't heard, but Jorg recently started selling Schroeder cabs in Rosebery,Austrailia at Green Square Music, ph +61 2 9341 2237 (from Schroeder website)...and if you want to save some money on a head to allow you to get a Schroeder, get the cab first, you'll likely be happier with what ever amp you then try out later and decide to get-and you might even be able to get something alot less than the Aggi to drive it, ie, I can't imagine playing louder than I can right now with my Schro 410 and Yorkville XS800H amp that only cost me about $625 US including shipping-thats 800 watts at 4 ohms...

Well if you don't like it come after me :ninja: -I do like them -I had a hard time :D choosing between a 410 and a 1210-I chose the 410 and its a bit of a beast to lug around(78 lbs)-though I never have regretted getting it-sometimes I think,"am I ever going to need all the volume this cabinet puts out and the 1210 would be so much easier to lug around"-having a 1210 and a 410 would make life "more than perfect" as my grandson likes to say..... :hyper:

Nearly wee-d in my pants with excitement again!!!
I really need to calm down. I've just realised that Rosebery is about 1 hour from where I live. How bloody lucky iis THAT!!!

Thanks for that DAcat. I hadn't registered that green square music was in Oz. I guess I was looking for UK.

I won't be buying a schroeder for now because I'm only visiting here, however I really want to do my research on these as I'm very excited by them. If I did buy it then I wouldn't be able to afford to ship it home!!!

I'll email the nice chaps at green square and ask if they would be at all inclined to let me try out a couple of cabs. I'm also really interested in thunderfunk amps but think that they may be a little underpowered for me as I would probably be running that close to flat out with the band I used to play with. Then again, with the schroeders probably not! :D

I feel stoked that I might be able to test one out so near! Especially as I might be able to A/B the 3 cabs I'm interested in (1210, 410, 21012).

Off goes a nice email! (after I've done the work that I've been putting off for the last 5 hours. :hmm:

Pretty much the same dillemma I'm facing. I'm thinking that the 1210 would be a good start with a second 1210 later if I need it. I just LURVE the idea of these tiny cabs moving everyones' internal organs! :D

Damn this GAS!

Hey Mohawk Freak-I was originally thinking the same way-but then when I ABed the 1210 and 410 next to one another-I loved the sound of the 1210-but then when I put the speaker cable into the 410 and left the amp on the same settings ,there was a clear difference-the 410 was definately louder(by my ears about  33% ),and the tone of the 410 was deeper, richer, darker, fatter, and punchier at the same time-so then I felt, well for $200 more, get two more speakers moving twice as much air...but still a 1210 would still be nice to have in addition to my 410 cab "in a perfect world"... :D ...Good luck-but don't obsess too much about this-just save your pennies as much as possible, and your ears will make the decision for you when you hear the cabs. After you decide which cab to get, then IMHO, figure out which amp to get... :hyper:

Just read your 410 product review on here. Very cool! :D

Thanks for all the advice. I've got PLENTY of time to try this stuff out before I either have the proper chance to buy it (when I get back home in September) or can afford it (when I get my nan on the game  )

...err, part of that was a joke!
