Quick question. Did you go direct, mic your amps, or blend (or other) for the recordings? The bass sounds great! It could even stand to be a little louder in the mix :eek: ;)

I went direct, the guitar was recorded through the Schroeder g....r cab :D

Yeah cool stuff! I agree the bass could stand being mixed a little more to the front. At the risk of being a party pooper though I don't like the di only bass tone, it sounds somewhat out of context in that style of music to me. Sounds kind of dry and flat against the full and energetic guitar and vocals. Just my opinion but I reckon blending in a mic'd cab would sound more alive, more appropriate and add even more kick to the tracks. Maybe 're-amping' a bass track and blending it back in would be worth a listen?

Finally got to try the 410 with the Aggie DB750 last night. All I can say is wow. It is everything everyone has said and more. It was a hot little practice. I actually got the nod from the front man for a solo! You know how much these guys like to give up the limelight. I almost fell over.

Also thanks to Jorg for the head recommendation, the combo just flat out kicks. I know the tone of an amp are a personal decision but don't ever wonder about the power of one of these heads. Just for fun I used the 410 and my SteelSound 2x12 at the same time, damn. I have never owned a head/cab of this quality before and there is one drawback... all the shortcomings of the bass (mostly setup) and my playing are right there for everyone to hear!

Listening to Jorgs tracks now, very nice.

If you have the coin, there is decently price DB 750 in our classifieds right now.

It is my kind of equipment, not too many knobs. I'm pretty simple minded, what can I say. I run bass and treble straight up with a slight boost on the mid and let it rip. If I ever really need a tone that this thing won't do I'll worrry about different pre-amp then.

Of course, when I was checking the classifieds for the DB 750 I noticed the '74 SVT for sale. I had the same head when I first started playing and that head was only two years old, so now I want it.... Somebody stop me please. :help:

Thats the problem, I just got a DB 750. I was looking in the classified for RockStarBassist 'cause he said he wanterd one. But... that doesn't stop me from wanting the old SVT. I bet that would sound nice and juicy with a Schro. 212.

I really need to stay off the internet until somebody else buys that thing.

Thanks for your input and compliments; I really had a great time recording this project, and we're gigging quite a bit now. Since Mike and I wanted the guitar to capture the Hendrx sound that entails a lot of low mids (Jimi liked to play loud but hated shrill highs), which interfere sometimes heavily with my bass frequencies, I had no other choice but to increase the higher mids on my bass to make it more audible and to avoid a muddy sound.
