Full range (no tweeter = no crossover)

E-mail or PM for price, can't post secretive info like that on TB, sorry.

When I've toyed with the idea of a second 1212, I've thought of requesting the no tweeter option. With my main gig I turn it almost all the way down anyway...But then, I've been toying with the idea of a 21012 instead. Gotta pay off my new bass before really gittin' too involved in a new Schroeder though.

So much gear, so little time and $$$.

I finally had a chance to play a show at a 300+ capacity club the other night. It was with my punk band with 3 guitar players, 2 singers a drummer and myself, there was alot going on sonically. I used my QSC PLX-3002 amp with a Groove Tubes Preamp and my SX jazz copy bass modded with EMG active pickups. I could hear every note I played...the sound got even better the further away from the cabinet that I stood. There seemed to be a zone of about 2 feet right in front of the cab where it was really different sounding than when you stood back some. That may be room acoustics or just the cab was blowing sound into my waist and not my ears. I had to adjust some EQ thenstep back to hear what was coming out. No biggie... just stating the facts here. At first it seemed really boomy, but a little EQing took care of that. It must have been left over EQ boost from our practice spot/basement. A slight turn of the bass knob smoothed it out. The sound mixed well with the Marshall 1/2 stacks. I think one word describes what I heard...Authority. I really didn't have to fuss over the stage volume or EQ during the show. I had no bass in the stage monitors which is par for the course around here. It didn't matter because the stage volume was well kept by the Schroeder. It also had plenty of headroom in case I needed to go louder. I didn't want to have a rig where I have just barely enough juice to get by...because eventually, I'll need to go just a little louder. I used to use and Ampeg 8x10" it was sweet for on stage, but it won't fit in my car. The 310212 fit in the back seat of my Buick, along with my amp rack case and my bass case. It's a little heavy, but nothing compared to the 8x10! I could manage it by myself. Going upstairs is still better done with 2 people, though. I screwed wheels to the side of the cab so that it can sit flat on the stage when turned upright or be rolled when turned sideways. Some of my freinds commented that my bass sounded full and large...a good compliment coming from people who aren't musicians...just music fans. This was the first time in about 2 years where I came off stage and was pleased at the sound that I had. I was so frustrated because I wanted to use my Ampeg, but it just wasn't possible anymore without renting a trailer or borrowing a van or something. I believe I have found the alternative that I've been looking for. In my opinion, for my needs, I don't believe that the 310212 is "overkill" I think it's an excellent cab.

of your Mesa 400+ and the 310212 to your PLX 3002? Have you had a chance yet at rehearsal at least to play the tube head through your Schroeder?

I've now used my Focus 1 with no outboard eq for the 3rd straight gig, and although I miss a little of the high end ping that the eq brings to the equation, the rest of the spectrum really sounds great. I'm trying to use my 1210 as much as possible due to the weight advantage and I like the tone a bit better than my 410, but I think that could be the result of being able to crank the 1210 closer to it's limits moreso than I couild ever do with the 410.

Played at the House of Blues last night, in the restaurant, not the main concert area. I used the 410 last time and it just was too "loud". I do get PA support there. The room seats around 150 and is lively but not boomy...it's loud but I don't have to cut the bottom end down.

I'll use the 1210 tonight (still packed in the car, why not use it), also as I got a last second Christmas party gig at a country club with a 7 piece band....they do mostly standards, light rock, 60's 70's etc. etc.

Some people feel that the Focus is a very sterile sounding head for electric bass and I've found it punchy, clear, growly, and other nice totally subjective adjectives to describe it. I really have nothing negative to say about the head/Schroeder combination, whetherr the 1210 or 410 is used.

Have a good one!!!

I haven't tried out my Mesa 400+ with the 310212. I'm sure it would sound whopping! I have kinda put the 400+ into bedroom practice duty (I know...that's sacriligious!) It was just getting too heavy to cart around up and down stairs. Plus, I've already replaced the tubes (200 bucks worth o tubes) and I'm afraid that the vibrations of loud volumes and knocking around will blow em out again like last time. Maybe this would be a new thread, but what good is a loud tube amp when I'm afraid to take it to shows and have to treat it like fine china? I tried putting a piece of foam under it, but that's dumb looking. ok...another thread! hahah 310212 kicks ass! :D

I put a polyester pad and foam rubber pad into a black canvas slip-cover my wife sewed for me (the whole thing is maybe 3" thick).
That's my isolation pad for my 4sp rack.
The Auralex Gramma pad would be better, but my pad cost next to nothing (which by coincidence, is how much I have to spend on an isolation pad).

If your tubes are well-made tubes, you should not have to handle them like fine china and any cheap isolation pad will be fine.

Put that 400+ to good use! :) :bassist: ;)

+1

I don't treat it 'special' and haven't had a problem.

How many of you out there who use heads  with tubes worry about putting your heads ;) directly on your Schroeder cab? I've thought about the Isolation Pad idea but never used one?

I replaced the hard plastic feet on my svt with soft rubber doorstops @ 50c ea. Hardly any vibration now when I put my hand on the amp.
That is a fantastic idea! You just pick em up at the Home Depot of something? I'm going to go out hunting for something like that now! My 4 space rack has small feet on it...maybe I can replace them! Whenever I would use my Mesa head right on top of my cabinet...I could hear the tubes jingling...like sleigh bells! That's what made me wary of using my tube head. That and the fact that a new tube set was expensive! :spit:

I have a general question- Will Jorg make 410's and 21012's in 8ohms? I searched the thread and found that he will make the smaller cabs in 8ohms but what about the large boxes? Thanks
I''m pretty sure you can get them in 4 0r 8 ohms-whichever is your preference-but call Jorg first-no. is on the Schroeder website.... :)
