I was just reading up on these and from what i've read, that definately seems to be the case.
Todd-You're so right-last night I was in a hurry, got lazy and only took my Avatar delta 2x10 cab powered by my Yorkville XS800 amp to rehearsal instead of bringing my Schro 410-what a mistake!toddtodd said:

I don't think theres a 3101212 out there (unless prototype?) with cast drivers. Mine was supposedly the first and has all stamped drivers. And yes I've been in there
his concern is sounding good/with cut through. Now whether we're stamped or cast, or whether we're Neo or ceramic, or whether the 10 is slanted in the 1210 and the 12 is facing forward, the stuff, FOR MOST OF US, just works.
I played at a big band rehearsal tonight with the available amp (Traynor block something)...it was a three channel amp for keys mostly I believe, 1 15 and a tweeter. What a freakin' joke. It sounded TERRIBLE and I couldn't do anything about it. It "made me play" several levels below what I can when using the Schroeders and my AI Focus + signal processings accessories.
Unfortunately, it's a real schlepp to use my own stuff here but I guarantee you, when we do our dress rehearsal for a concert in late February, I'm not gonna be anywhere near that Yorkville combo. I'll get there an extra 1/2 hour early if I have to and get the band used to what a bass is supposed to sound like.
anyway....good luck, pressed or cast.

I had the first full band rehearsal with the new Schroeder setup last night (1010/1210). The initial extra midrange bite certainly takes a little getting used to, especially when dialling in tone when first setting up the rig - and even more so when coming from the world of Acme flatness.
Once the band got cookin' though, things really gelled quickly. It was nice not having to fight with my EQ to A) be heard and B) be a pleasant sound! Something I'd become frustrated with in the past was having to put so much midrange in my three-way cabinets it would distort the mid driver - and the cut with the Schroeder setup was pleasantly clean and fit nicely into the mix. It was so nice doing a "set and forget" on the EQ! Too much knob twisting is no fun...

In my mind, this is not a downgrade, and there are many reasons why. Briefly, and in my uninformed but biased opinion...
Cast frames are heavy and nonflexible. This can lead to adverse shock loading in transport. It can also lead to unwanted harmonic damping.
Pressed steel frames with reinforcement ribs can be stronger,lighter, and more flexible. They can move a little with the big fat frequncies we're throwing at them.
An engineering parallel: Mtorcycle and car race chassis were made stiffer and stiffer over the last 10 years til the stiffness actually resulted in evil handling and inability of tires to hookup anymore. Specifically designed chassis flex has now been re-designed into most competitive chassis.
You can use your big brains to imagine how this applies to our situation.
While I won't speak for Jorg, I have talked to him at some length about this, and his thoughts are not out of line with mine.

What til you see the new Schroeder light specs. a 1210 and 1212 weighing in the lower to upper 30 pounds a cab!!!! The final wattage capabilities will be posted soon but we're probably talking around 650 to 800 watts? Loud, efficient.

There the comparison ends. Bottom, punch, clarity, volume, cut through, ability to hear yourself on stage,...you name it....and this is with the ceramic magnets...once the lights come out, then you're also adding the Schroe's weight being less. The only "disadvantage" is the price as it's obviously more, but you're more than making up for it literally every measureable category. We're not talking about a little difference.
My 1210 blows away the gs112 period. Hey, for just a few hundred dollars more....it should and does!!!

I currently have the 12+, 1210, & 1212 models in the shop, and have the 410, 21012, & 310212 on order. I sold the last 410 & 21012 within days of delivery. The players that buy them consistently call me later and tell me how impressed they are with the cabs tone & performance. I should be getting the ultra lite cabinets as soon as Jorg has them available which should be shortly after the Cali NAMM. They are the one product that really lives up to it's reputation.
