As you obviously go up in the number of speakers, these cabinets are going to lose more than 15 pounds. I think the 15 pound barrier loss is in the 1210 and 1212. Once you get into the 21012 and 410 and then the 310212, it's incredible how much lighter these cabinets are than the competition, but even the 1212 compared to a GK for instance or a Genz neo 212 is gonna be 20 or more pounds lighter with similar if not better specs and the newest, latest and greatest custom built Neo's.
I don't believe anyone at the moment comes even close to 55 pounds for a 410, and the 21012 compared to a Bergie 322 is what, 52 pounds vs 98 pounds. Nice cabinet, but I'll take my chances that the 21012 will perform as well both in volume, range, and efficiency. Jorg feels that the tone from these new Neo's is EXCELLENT and after doing significant testing ON THE GIGS, not in a sterile studio room, they're ready to be heard in all their glory.
Jorg has also kept the prices extremely close to the ceramic magnet cabinets and for those who have a little more help or are in a little better shape who desire to have even higher wattage capacities, the standard line is still available, well priced, and each cabinet represents a possible one cabinet solution for the right gig.
How many cabinets out there offer 3 10's, 2 12's, and a high wattage tweeter, let alone are weighing anything close to 75 pounds? This is crazy...it weighs less than my 410 Schroeder now. I have a bass player friend here in town who's one of the loudest players around. He's got two power amps running 1500 and 1400 watts each at 4 ohms. I think what I'm gonna recommend him looking into a 310212 and a 210 12...he's really into loud bottom and with 5 10's and 3 12's total he'd be really well off. I think we're gonna suggest the 310212 as a neo and the 21012 as a regular unless the money doesn't matter. I can't imagine what this is going to sound like but next Friday he's gonna use my 410 and 1210 in tandem to get a feel for the Schroeder sound compared to his running a 115 and 118 cab with one tweeter in the 115. I think he's gonna have his socks knocked off.
Hopefully he's been putting his pennies away and we'll have him order one or both of the new cabinets after the tryout.
For me, knowing that the 410 is everything I'll ever need, I'm gonna put my pennies together and go for a neo 21012 and a neo mini+ for my piano trio gigs. That way we got a one cabinet solution for every possible gig and I can still bring the equivalent of a 310212 to anyone else's gig to try out so we can start Schroederizing the North Coast.
I can't wait. Oh, did anyone say that the lights cost less than equivalent Epi's UL's?
