I'll push it with a GK 700RB untill I get some more cash. Then, I was thinking QSC PLX1600 but after talking to the guy at The Low End I'm now considering a Crest LT1000.

I play mostly classic rock and some of the new rock. 5 piece band with keys.

here is a picture Jorg sent me with one of his 410 sitting with a typical bottom ported 4x10

BTW: Welcome to Talkbass kenny! (you should fill out your profile so we can check out your gear and gig :bassist: )

Hey thanks for the pic! I have filled out my profile finally. :) Glad to be here!

I think the cab’s are actually at a normal weight, I don’t see them as light weight, but then I’m comparing light weight to the Epifani UL and so that might not be fair. I think they are an average weight.

The Handles were the first thing I called Jorg when the cabs arrived to change out to recessed and all cabinets have been changed out.

first off, thanks to brian for opening up on a saturday to let me hear these cabs...

THESE THINGS ARE THE GOSPEL!

punch, booty and authoritive burp. slap freindly and ( you would never tell by my sloppy playing) tight fingerstyle. this thing was taking all of brians crest power amp and asking for more. it got so loud at one point i asked brian what the rattle was. his answer? HIS HOUSE!. these things are killer. the only thing keeping me from moving from my dream cabs to jorgs is $$. thinking about selling my whole rig and rethinking it. hope that helps.

I wish there were specs for these cabs in re: efficiency, and rolloff. Also is anyone that has tried these confident they can compare them to any well-known cabs?

Well I was dead set on a boutique 215 sealed cabinet (figured the closed box + quality drivers would give me the 12" tighness & extra booty)... and changed my path instantly. I feel this little 1210 smokes any 2 driver cabinet or pair of single driver cabinets I've tried/heard.

I know Jorg has just finallized the line... maybe lab tests will come soon.

Jock: my 10 and the port are in the "horn" area, I assume it's the same idea as a bass bin with a longer path for the lows to bloom from... but I truthfully have a limited understanding of the science of it... I just know it sounds BIG.

in all seriousness i cant think of a situation where a set would be needed. i have played just about every high end cab on the market. as a matter of fact the only one i have no experience with is bergie, but this thing is amazing just for its size and volume not to mention tone. as bassists we have always said the person that can make it light loud ond low would be a millionare.... as far as i'm concerned jorg can start spending the cash!

.

Good question smash. Those are the specs I was hoping to find on the website but there doesn't appear to be any listed.

Can anybody explain (make a qualified guess) how the theory behind this cab design works? Im really interested in that stuff. Seems like quite a small internal volume for the drivers as a big part of the cab is a port/horn for half the drivers.

OK I'll have a guess........ I hinted at ir earlier anyway. Seems it's a combination of old folded horn technology with standarded ported design. The 2 angled speakers feed onto a horn which is designed to "Throw" the bottom end further away than a traditional front loaded speaker. Everyone has experienced the phenomenon where bottom end disappears as you walk away from your speakers. This design tries to overcome that. However the mouth of the horn doesn't look big enough to be a true folded horn. I've heard horns that produce little or no bottom end on the dance floor but nail the people at the back of the room up against the wall. By reducing the size of the mouth, it keeps the throw a bit closer to where it helps bass players hear themselves better.

Folded horns produce little or no mids and treble, so the forward facing speakers are there to replace the loss of clarity in the mids and highs.

Understand the driver’s in many cabinets by different brand’s are very much the same. Check specs on other cabinets like voice coil, etc. The difference in the cabinets comes more to tuning and engineering of the cabinet, Crossover design, the way the cab is braced and constructed as well as type of material its insulated with. Last but not least the Tweeter or Horne in which they manufacture uses.
To an extent this is true. But I've done the experiment where I buy a set of drivers then use them in as many different typs of enclosures as I could think of. Sure there were the differences, but they were all within the laws of physics. And the drivers "colour" never changed. I'd say that it is very much 50/50 between the driver and the cab.

I doubt very much they're the same drivers as Avatar use. Chances are they're an OEM which just happen to have the same Fs (resonant frequency), but there's too little T/S data on the website to make that call.

Have you compared these cabs to Accugroove or EA? If so, I'd be curious as to your thoughts. Same with Epifani.

Thanks, Tom.

These cabs seem to be a bit more aggressive that the accugroves. what i noticed about accugroves were that they were very even. kinda like a studio monitor. the schroders have a bit more agressiveness. i dont have enough experience with ea to make a fair comparison.

as far as epifani goes, the schroeders just seem to give me more of what i like about them in a lighter package. i could go on using my eipfani 2x10 and be very happy with the tone. the schroder just seemed to give me a bit more booty (the 12) and more volume in a lighter package. i plan on going back by brians this week with my cab and my head and my bass to compare it directly. saturday i tried it with a crest power amp and ab's them against all the epi cabs he had.
i'll warn you guys i'm not much of a player... but i have been looking for a certain sound for years. epifani got me closer. swr heads got me closer( or so i thought) but now i think a schroeder cab with a high wattage power amp is bullseye for what i want in tone and portability.
