Got an email from Jorg and my 1212 should be going out early next week. I'm really looking forward to trying it with some huge low end for the dub bass sound. I may order a second 1212 or even a 410 if I like this as much as I think I will (I'm already putting most of my older heavy Mesa cabs up for sale). This idea has my back feeling great before I've even tried it.

Just to give you an idea of the sound I'm looking for, I love the Mesa 400+ and all the mesa cabs I've tried. I also love the Aguilar DB 659 and 750 and the Aguilar GS 112 and 212. Do you think a Shroeder would work for me and is there any way I could try one out?

I've posted elsewhere on TB (I don't think this thread, but might have been) that the 1210, 410, & 21012 have a certain significant amount of the older Diesel/RR Mesa Boogie flavor to them. The Schroeders are tighter and a fair bit cleaner sounding than the M-B's, but from the lower midrange down there's a similar tone. The 410 especially reminds me of the Nx10 M-B's. From the midrange up I think the Schroeders are alot smoother, cleaner, and more articulate than the M-B's.
I haven't heard enough of the other Schroeders to comment of how they sound.

ok, I was going to wait a few days to post but thought it would be valuable to post initial thoughts.

For reference, my cab for last two years has been an EA CXL-112L. I know that sound isn't for everyone, but I love it. I've been looking to get a louder cab with more headroom.

I ran the 1210 vs an Aguilar GS112 and my EA. Here are my preliminary thoughts, which may well change over time.

Visually, the cabinet looks great. Solid, nice carpeting. Despite being bigger than my EA cab, it was just as easy to lift and move about.

Sonically, here are my qualitative unscientific impressions:
The Aguilar had most natural low end, followed by Schroeder and then EA.

The EA had the clearer and better defined midrange, then the Schroeder, and then the Aguilar.

The Aguilar had the harshest high end with tweeter on, followed by EA and then Schroeder.

Overall, the Schroeder had better definition than the Aguilar but not as much as the EA. That's kind of what I was expecting, but I felt the high end sounded a little muffled.

Now: Like I said, I'm so used to the EA sound I'm aware I'm probably listening with pre-biased ears. I also guess I'm driving the EA and Aguilar 8ohm cabs harder than the 4ohm Schroeder, that is closer to their limits, so I may well be experiencing Fletcher Munson effect. Does that sound likely?
If I am, then the Schroeder 1210 may not be the cab for me as I'd need something that can open up at a lower volume. Maybe the 1010?

I'll report back in a day or two.

Thanks for the impressions.

I can only speak for my 410; it sounds great at all volume levels.

You can crank the tweeter level to taste; it remains very smooth even with no attenuation.

Hey-

No haven't had a chance to gig with it yet. I got it for NYC gigs where there's no backline (or a crappy one), and I'm not using upright. So far (since I got the 1010) all the city gigs have had a decent backline, and on LI gigs I use my Bergie stack. I was going to give the Shroeder a workout at a recording session last weekend, but I ended up going direct.

I'll definitely post my impressions after I can put some milage on it (since there is not too much feedback on the 1010 around), but right now it's just a stand for my Acme 110 :(

Well, I have a bassment in my house we could use. Not that we could crank it full tilt, but could do it at reasonable volumes.

BTW, I experimented a bit with my amp settings tonight. I was a bit spacey last night, and didn't have the AG500 master up as much as I should have. Running the AG500 with master at full, and adjusting via input gain, the highs and low became much more apparent as I would expect. Still not quite as clear in the midrange or top end as I'm used to, but much more to my liking than last night's results.
