This being the case I love my Schroeder, I mean Tech Soundsystems cab too.

All wisecracks aside, I do understand the love for the Schroeder.

Still scratching my head as to why Jorg had Tech cabs and sold them last March; Research no doubt (wise guy again).

KT

Some cabinets I've sold within the past 10 months:
1. Several Mesa Boogies
2. EA CXL112
3. EA 350 combo;
4. Some Epifani cabinets;
5. Bag End, etc., etc.

Looks like you omitted the prime suspect off of your list. I indeed remember you trying to sell the Tech cabs here on TB and on Bassgear.com (I even tought about buying them)

The bottom line here is that it seems your Tech Soundsystems cabs were reversed engineered into what you call a Schroeder, then sold.
Simply give credit where credit is due... Tech Soundsystems!! No?

Schroeder (Tech Soundsystems) is a very nice cab however keep in mind it's simply a clone of something that has already been done!

A question brought up once before, and answered once before.

Many cabs look alike. Sometimes it's what you don't see that makes the difference. As is the case in the Schroeder design.

Not sure what your trying to prove since you obviously don’t feel like reading the post to see where this all has been talked about. Jorg has never said he invented the design. Heck I don’t think Tech did either considering its been used in PA cabs as well as old Acoustic did a fold design and I’m sure many others.

Have you seen all the front load cabs? I don’t see anyone attacking other company’s for the front load design!
Jorg’s cabs are very different sounding then the Tech. Its a matter of design, tuning, bracing, etc. Just like SWR is to Eden, Epifani to Bergantino, EA, Acme, etc., etc.

So drop what ever it is your trying to stir up. Buy a Schroeder and compare it to your Tech or find another thread to start stupid crap!

oh boy.....here we go......the first one to call out Jorg on his design.

Its not the first time its been talked about. read the post before posting questions that have no substance.

From my understanding, Tech did what is considered a folded horn verse the Schroeder's are actually more of a semi fold.

PS. Tech doesn't build the design anymore anyway!

Some of the old Fender Bassman 4/12 cabinets, had the inverse folded horn style. I think Jorg just did what Jim Bergantino did, took a style of cabinet, and made it the best it could be........and I thank them for it

I have no idea how close to the Tech cabs Jorg's cabs are but...

The information from these posts is not enough to tell you whether Jorg cloned a Tech or not. There are so many front loaded cabs that resemble the original SWR 4x10 in basic concept, yet sound disimilar enough that many threads at TB are devoted to comparing them.

Another example: I'm not aware that Ampeg ever complained that Hartke "stole" their design for 10" speakers in a sealed cab, for example, although I don't think anybody else was building sealed 10" speaker bass cabs in the '70s.

Jorg makes and sells a cab unlike any other available in the U.S., and rather than congratulate him for it you want to excoriate him because its picture and description on a website(!!) seem to resemble a cab that isn't made anymore and was never (as far as I know) sold in this country in the first place!

No doubt there are some similarities between the Schroeders and the Techs, and I'm sure Jorg was aware of Tech's design when he built his cabs, but until somebody puts them in the same room, listens to them together and then rips them apart to see exactly how they're built we won't know just how similar they truly are.

And even if they are as similar as you claim... so what? They're either good sounding and worth the money or they're not. If Tech wants to complain that Jorg has infringed on a patent for their (abandoned) design then he'll hear from them, and if not then it's certainly none of our business.

It's a great design and hopefully more people will be inspired to make cabs using similar principles. And if they can make a better cab than Jorg, then they'll deserve to take some of his business. In the meantime I'm extremely happy that Jorg is building these cabinets so that I get to play through them.

...let's call a duck a duck. Out of all the cabs Jorg listed in his "used to have and sold" list, he purpously ommited the ones that resemble his "Patented" Schroeder design - Tech Soundsystems. The ones that he sold last March.
I guess we are to believe that by coincidence his in-depth mathamatical calculations and experimentation led him to the same conclusion as the Tech engineers; or has he cut a few corners.
I put my money on the "cut corners theory".
Again, this isn't a bad thing; I'm simply looking for Jorg to say he built a better mouse trap and explain why it's better.

well, actually if you want to have him list them all, then ask that question. I know for a fact he has also sold Phil Jones cabs, Bergantino and a number of other's he didn't list. I think his point to the post was that Tech was only one of many cabinets he has owned in the past year or two. But considering your questions aren't really trying to find out his idea and purpose behind the design but more of just trying to start something you wouldn't see that!

As far as cost, I know first hand there is no cutting corner's, just look a little harder at the components he is using, and this design is a lot more expensive to build. Another reason not many do this design. If it had another name on it I can promise it would be a lot more!

Thanks for participating. And try filling out your personal info so people don't think your hiding something......

Does it really matter how Jorg came up with the design of his cabinets, particularly since Tech apparently abandoned that design several years ago (The real question is why in the world would they have done that)? Not to mention they don't appear to have a distributor in the U.S. The bottom line is that Jorg is manufacturing and selling a compact, comparatively lightweight cabinet that evidently sounds way huge... Plus his customer service is second to none! If some out there already have the Tech's, and the descriptions used around here to describe the Schroeders match that of your cabinet(s), more power to ya :bassist: If all you're trying to say is that the design has been done before... OK, we heard you, thanks for the heads up :smug:

BTW, I've just pulled the trigger myself and ordered a 1210 from Jorg :hyper: ... I can't wait to get my T-Shirt and become an official member of the "Schroeders Society".

P.S. Jorg, I sure hope you had some size XXXL Shirts made :D

Peace,

- Frank.

Congrats!

And I agree with you whole-heartedly.

And just for the record, a duck is indeed a duck...so, ***?

All your derogatory remarks aside and ignored. I've listed the cabinets I've sold in the past 10 months; the tech cabinet I gave to a friend without charge, that's why I didn't list it.

Thank you

Jorg

Brian......You sell Schroeder cabs, that's cool. But come on dude, you sound like his big brother. Let the man himself do the explaining.

I haven't been able to read all 800+ posts in this thread, so I must have missed another instance of someone questioning the design. I sincerely apologize for not reading through the other 22 pages before making my comment.

Mike

Its tuff because I do sale Schroeder as well as a list of other cabinet builders, bass builders and other products which I feel very strongly about. I would try and defend any of them if someone made a statement that was untrue and I knew about it. So when you believe in a product you sell and also know more of the history of the product, its tuff to listen to someone try and accuse a product of being a rip off.

If he really had a question and was curious about if Jorg had taken any of Tech’s design he would have asked Jorg via phone or e-mail. Not a public post that wasn’t arranged in a question but as an accusation.

I think if KT wants to ask Jorg a serious question about the design then do that. Don't accuse him of something publicly with out asking him first.

I try to avoid posting my opinions here because that has already been interpreted by some that I am trying to advertise my cabinets. But I believe that I have to state the following facts once more:
Even though the Schroeders have certain optical similarities with the Tech design , THAT'S WHERE IT ALREADY ENDS. Size, components and other issues differ tremendously. There are certain limits when it comes to cabinet designs, that's why front fired cabinets are so very common and popular.
Therefore, if someone mentions the word "clone" without having compared and tested a Schroeder does not know what he is talking about, period. Comparing a Tech cabinet with a Schroeder is like comparing apples with oranges. I want to thank every Schroeder owner here for their support and I will make certain that I am ALWAYS available for any questions via email and don't see the need to "defend" myself.

Sincerely,

Jorg

Congrats! :ninja: I never got a shirt :( Maybe I'll get one with the 1212 Fedex is dropping off today :hyper:

Hey Jorg, I just want to thank you again for doing what you do and for being who you are! It's refreshing (and unfortunately suprising at the same time) to come across a straight shooting honest guy in this industry. Your cabinets kick everything else to the curb for my needs and many (including myself) could benefit from holding themselves to your standards.

All the silly pettiness, and unfounded derogatory remarks aside.... Jorg probably took ideas from Tech, Bag End, EA, and all the other cabs he's had, tried, sold, looked at, heard in his life. I've met Jorg, and talked to him in person on two different occasions. As a salesman, I can read a person in about 10 seconds... Jorg is NOT the kind of guy that just makes crap up. He says the Schroeder design came through seemingly endless trial and error. I sat down and talked to his wonderful wife for about 45 minutes, and she relates how Jorg has poured himself into this cabinet project. He wanted a smaller cabinet with more sound and great tone. He built himself some cabinets. Others wanted him to build them some... and that's how we have Schroder cabinets.

All of that said... try them for yourself. Take them to a gig. Forget what they sound like in your bedroom (although they sound great there too). These cabinets are designed for guys that gig. If you aren't out giggin... you wouldn't really understand why so many of us truly thank Jorg for his work, and his cabinets!! It's made my life easier, and sound better!!

Mike, he said early on that he posts rarely on this thread so as not to sound spam-y. And, come on, he's running a bussiness building cabinets, he doesnt have a personal Call-center or 'Reply-center' :p
