I think I'm going to get a 1010 and 1212 combo'd up
700 @ 4 ohms each ala my PLX2402
Should be sweet, and easier to move.

only 450 watts each coming from my CE1000 but yeah.... sweet![]()
(tube amp needs to chill till I get up the bucks for a retube... might kill me, but after teh holidays is sounding about when)
well, I will tell you that the El Whappo is the finest cabinet I've ever played through and I can't imagine giving up my endorsement for anything on earth, but I am certainly curious about the Schroeder cabs...Biker4Him said:... Now... if I was a solo bass artist. LIke Jake Kot, or Stewart McKinsey or someone like that.. I would certainly want the round/sweet huge low end provided by the E.W....

Bigwan said:Wouldn't it be better with 2 1210s combo'd, then you could still have 12's and 10's in a single cab and use them individually?
Just thinking out loud...

Glad you're happy. Thanks for the update.natrab said:Got my 1212 today and took it to rehearsal. This is by far the best cab I've ever had. Smokes my Mesa 1516 and just about every other cab I've played. Huge low end. It's a little hard to hear the high end when it's not aimed at you (mainly when it's on the floor). It truly is all you need for a gig and my band plays LOUD. It has such great clarity at any volume level. It can take all the power you can dish out. After about an hour of playing it melted the solder in my speaker cable and the sound cut out (that's what I get for using 15AWG - I've got some 10AWG and some Big Fatty plugs to make a new cable for this rig). After that I was back on the road again and I really can't say in words how incredible this cab is. You have to hear it.

Brian Barrett said:Well, everything so far said is correct. Everyone through the shop has had to pick their jaw up off the ground that has played through the Schroeders. The 1210 combo will easily kick a lot of 410s on the market! The 410 is just beyond anything you could compare to it in its size and really even bigger....... it will kick most 610 & 810s. Jorg has really got something going and has spared no expense in his design and parts into his cabs. He probably has more cost in any one cab then most.
Schroeders have a place in the cabinet industry for sure. He didnt copy another design and try to make a buck, but instead tried to push the envelope a little further!
This has already been covered (I think twice already).KenToby said:I have a Tech Soundsystems combo amp with this same set up and after reading about the port placement, etc. these "new" cabs sound much like a clone of the Tech stuff.
If memory serves me correctly, I believe Jorge sold a couple of Tech cabs back in March. I do hope there is somthing new under the sun with these cabs, if not I'll be keeping my Tech combo.
Sombody tell me what the significant differences are if any.
Thanks,
KT

Do a search.
KenToby said:Do a search?! What? This has NOT been covered... not ONCE.
I'm reading that these cabs seem to be ripoff of the Tech stuff "...down to the ports..."
I'd rather hear "Yea, I took the Tech cab and refined it a bit". What I'm reading is: "Through lots of trial and error I've come up with a new, better configuration of bass cab".
Looking at my Tech cab I see nothing original here.

I've tried many of the great cabinets from many of the respected manufactures(Glock,Tech,Epifani,Bergantino, etc.) and found these to be the clearest of them all. I was very impressed by the volume and puch the speakers give with exceptionaly tight low end. They project with great athority even at far distances. They are also very efficient. It's not neccessary to own a mega-watt amp to power these cabs. As expected each bass brought it's own sound through these cabinets. Pretty much the same thing everyone else has already said.
Mark Reccord said:Jorg appears to consider it a variation of the folded horn (see page 7 or 8), which it is by all appearances.

That is not entirely correct. I only added the Schroeders to the "folded horn styled" cabinet designers. I would also like to mention that even if the Schroeders have a similarity with the older style tech soundsystem designs, that's where it exactly stops, just similarities. There are tremendous differences when it comes to components, construction and efficiency between these two cabinet makers. I would like to see someone ridiculing all the front fired cabinet makers and alleging who "copied" the design from whom? Marshall? Ampeg? ????.......(please fill in your favorite front fired cabinet maker), might be an interesting thread, nah, it would be boring.
As I've mentioned before, critique is good, and that's everyone's right, but please keep if fair and reasonable.
I gladly respond to any email directed to my in a timely manner.
thanks everyone
Jorg

The drivers are different (including tweeter) and the crossover is different. I think some of the construction techniques are different.
I have no idea how similar the enclosure is to the Tech's, apparently, it's very similar...how different, I don't know.
I do like the way my cab sounds though.![]()
