Did anyone try the mini-12?

Big +1. . .

I'm curious to hear people's reactions to the Mini 12+. . . 99% of my gigs require only a single 12 and an Epifani T-112NYC is filling the bill now. I should have an AccuGroove Tri112L fairly soon, and I'm hoping to run an A/B/C with them against a 12+. :bassist: Anyone try one out at NAMM?

Has anyone had the chance of running a guitar through one of these?

Im about to pick up a guitar and Im wondering how this cab will feel about being driven with a guitar and a Sparkle Drive (Tubescreamer) or slightly overdriven sounds.

What if I dump the crossover/ tweeter?

I need a good cab for both bass and guitar.

The one pictured should be delivered to me soon. I'll try and run some guitar through it and see how she likes it. I do have an svp-bsp pre and can run plenty of gain at it. I'll try my guitar head too.

Damned if I'm still dying to hear one of these in action. Probably the biggest question I'd like answered is how good the articulation is in the smaller cabs, say if I got two 1010s as opposed to 1210s. I'm so used to the quickness of 10s and their being so well suited for more technical playing onstage. Especially in small venues.

Why is nobody talking about the 1010s anywho?

Interesting.

I'd really like to hear more of Jorg's cabs in acousticly decent live venues, that's where the rubber meets the road.

In a good sized living room of a friend, I really preferred the 1210 (just sounded more balanced to me) over the 1212, but it's probably more likely we just prefer a slightly different cup of sonic tea.

DSFDF.

Thanks Tom, I always appreciate your input.

And vice versa, bud! It may also be that with different instruments/rooms/amps the two cabs (1210 and 1212) respond slightly differently. Also, both the "small boxes" were sitting atop the "medium boxes" - 21012 and 410 - in Pete's shop, so if you have the 1210 and 1212 on the floor, then you'd have some floor coupling going on, and it might make for a different comparison between the two.

Then again, it just could be "sonic tea" - which would make for a great band name!

Later, Tom.

My guess would be that the 1010, 1210, and 1212 are all the same physical size and within a pound or two of each other. They also share a single price. A cabinet with 10s normally has a size/weight advantage over larger speakers, but it is erased in this case. As a result, comparing the three is entirely performance based. I would guess that those who have had the opportunity to listen to them have favored the 1210. By traffic here, it would seem that the 1212 is a close second.

If you want the straight scoop on the difference in tone and volume between the 1010 and the others, email Jorg with your specific situation and see what he has to say. Then come back and tell the rest of us.

The info I received from him has me favoring the 1212 over the 1210. To paraphrase what I think I learned from my conversation with Jorg, the 1212 has more volume and bottom, and it can be EQed to approximate the tone of the 1210 with some effort. The 1210 is the cabinet that sounds good in any room, and if I had a tendency to play in a lot of rooms with bad acoustics, I would be going that way. The only down side of the 1212 was a comment that it takes a little more space to "open up", which I interpret to mean that if you're standing right next to your cab, you may not hear it quite as well as the 1210.

This is a great point. The 2x10 is all I use , and I have all the cabs in stock except the 310x212 and the single 12. As far as a two ten cab goes it has all the great features of many of the others out there and it also has better handling in the low end. It is also very loud for a 210. I use it with a focus 1 600 watts and the sound is very well defined and punchy the way I like it. I think most people are just blown away with the new aspect of Jorg's other cabs , but his 210 is just as useful and musical.

They are worth checking out .

Well this is what I'm thinking. Since the 410 is getting raves, would some guys not be going modular and opt for the 1010 stack?

Another option I saw in this thread was a 1010/1210 stack which also seems like a great match. I forget who it was, and, frankly this mega thread is about to get it's own congressman, so maybe someone with it will chime in. :D

I think price has a lot to do with peoples choices. Going two 1010 or 1212 boxes is considerably more expensive than just the 410 alone. At least that was my reasoning.

Then I saw the 3101212, I couldn't help but scrape the rest together and go for it. Guess I really like headroom. And yes, Brian, I do wear earplugs at practice ;)

I hereby nominate Jorg Schroeder for Congressman of the Schroeder megathread. . .

Hey bud- did you get my envelope yet? It went out Thurs., so just checking to see if it made it up there yet... My Mesa cab goes bye-bye this afternoon (if those movers ever get here), and I can't wait to get the 1210 in!!

Not to hijack the thread, but did anybody try out Brian's preamp that's sitting on top of those Schroeder cabs at Namm?

Without sounding cheesy or trying to promote Brian's product,
I just love this preamp, and it sounds superb with the Acoustic Image slave amp (600 Watts @ 4 ohm). I was so impressed that I own now this setup and I'll test it this weekend diligently live. :hyper: :hyper:
