Schroeder Cabinets ... smart design = very compact ! (regular and lights)

i've developed a very strong interest in these cabs, specifically the 1210 and 1212; this fall i am going to berklee and do NOT want to lug my 94 pound ampeg BSE410hlf everywhere i go (especially if i end up off campus!)

naturally, id like to try one of these out before buying, but that's probably not possible since there arent any dealers in the albany, ny area (that i know of). is there any sort of "try before you buy" thing i could do? i doubt id want to send it back, but itd be nice to have the option.

I don't know of any dealers anywhere in NY, but I was (sort of) able to try-before-buy here in NYC by doing a mini cab shootout with Scooperman.
But I ended up taking a slight chance and getting the 1212 instead of the 1210 like Seth (scooperman) has.

If you're in the city and want to try my 1212 sometime (at low volume in my apartment unfortunately) you can drop me a PM.

I honestly had some serious time during Namm to play that setup for several hours and love it. But I'd like to wait after a couple of live gigs. But so far, Brian's preamp and the AI slave amp are a beautiful combo.

More to follow early next week.

Will do fo' sho'. . . the key will be coming up with the scratch to pick up the Mini 12+, although I think it's going to be a good month or so before those will be available. In the meantime, when the Tri112L arrives, I'll run it up against the Epi and post it on up here. I LOVE my Epi, but I've heard such crazy tales about the AccuGroove that I'm wondering whether it may top the Epi. . . :eyebrow:

I received my Schroeder 410 yesterday. After 1/2 hour of comparing (using F1X/PLX1602) it to my Eden 410T, I took my Eden 410T out to be consigned. The Schroeder 410 is definitely a keeper - it's a no-brainer. The low end (40mhz) is so much better, stronger, and cleaner with a whole lotta punch. The F1X makes the highs warm and clean. It doesn't have that Eden high-end "sizzle". The Schroeder seems a LOT louder, while retaining the same definition as it gets louder. With my Eden, my Modulus VJ sounded "warmer" than my Modulus M92 5-string (pre-Sweet Spot). But with the Schroeder, the M92 immediately sounded great throughout the entire range. I probably just haven't dialed in the VJ settings yet (SD Pro-Active pups with J-Retro Deluxe pre).

I've owned the 21012 for around seven months and have played almost every weekend with it. I added a 1210 to the stable the first of December for smaller gigs. Both cabinets sound great by themselves but where they really shine is in the real world on stage. I think this is what Jorg had in mind when he built them and it works. I usually go wireless and I'll walk to the other side of the drummer just to hear what it sounds like and it's amazing. I don't know how the sound gets through the guitarist amp, all the drums and still sounds so loud and clear on stage and out front. I had a wild hair the other night at a fairly loud club and tried both cabinets together stacked with a 78 Fender Jazz J-Retroed, Sansamp RBI and QSC PLX 2402 in parallel. Sounded awsome but was too much for an inside gig with both amps run at equal volume. The sound from both cabinets was jumping off the stage. Again thats what there supposed to do. I had to turn the 1210 way down and let the 21012 do its job. I guess what all this leads up to is, if you liked what you heard at Namm you haven't really HEARD what the cabinets will do. I'm in the club now, my 1210 arrived today. It was slightly used, and got whacked a bit in shipping, but Jorg assures me that he has redesigned the part in question to make it shipper-proof, and I effected the repair myself. I always open up new gear immediately anyway, so it was no big deal at all. Looks good in there, and I'm not spilling either.

My cab was so new it wasn't even broken in, but my first impressions sound-wise are good. I'll gig it on Thursday, play with a few combinations of other cabs, and report back. My first impression is that a single 15 couples very nicely with the 1210. May not be needed on the gig though, we'll see. :cool:

I'm weighing up a schroeder and an aguilar GS412 at the moment.. The compact size of the schroeders are good.. Just the huge size and power of the aguilar is good.. I like a wall of speakers to actually feel the bass with. I might look at getting an aguilar 412 and then get a smallbox schroeder for band practices...
