Wow. I've had my 1210 for a couple of months. Got it right after the band I was in at the time decided to hang it up for a while. So while I've been playing through the cab in rehearsals (and enjoying it), Saturday night was the first time at a gig.

I was not disappointed.

I used an SVT-4Pro mono-bridged into the 1210. The gig was a *loud* 7 piece band (2 guitars, drums, percussion, hammond b3, singer/harmonica - a lot of sound), in a small bar (~150 people capacity), no PA support, and a plywood stage, tile floors and tin ceiling - long and narrow bar. I got some raised eyebrows from the guitarists before the show (Where's your 4x10, dude? That little thing isn't going to cut it, etc.) The Schroeder performed magnificently. I placed it on it's side, with the 10" speaker firing up to help with stage volume. Fat, greasy sounds, and handled the lower range of my 5 string with ease. I had a lot of compliments on my sound, including some from the musicians in the crowd.

The best part for me was that the band's old bass player was at the gig, and I let him sit in on a couple of songs. Perception of volume/tone is one thing on stage, but I never get to hear what the audience hears. While he was playing I was able to move to different parts of the room and listen, and the bass was upfront in the mix, and cutting through like a mofo.

If that Ampeg head didn't weight almost as much as the cab, I would have made the load in/out in one trip. My initial reasons for buying the Schroeder were 1) size/weight and 2) power handling/tone. I'll be the first to admit that my b.s. detector is set pretty high, and reading statements that this little cab will hang with or outperform many 4x10s had me pretty skeptical. But Jorg's cabs are the real deal.

Now of course, I'll have to wave an angry fist because I want to add a 1212 for the big gigs (because, of course, if what I have is great, more is even better, right? :rolleyes: :) ) Which means I'll need to get rid of the current head and start looking at either pre/power or a head that will go to 2ohm comfortably (db750?). Two problems I could think of doing this. . . you still won't be able to load in/out in one trip with a single cab - the 750 and a VW Bug are approximately the same weight. But I guess if you're talking about going to 2 ohms and 2 cabs that wasn't an option anyway. Second concern: you may not be able to stop soiling yourself everytime you hear your tone coming out of the 750 and 2 Schroeder cabs! :bassist:

My vote is for the DB 750 :D

As far as weight of the head, the 750 doesn't seem to be that far off from the 4Pro I currently have (which is a beast). I'm used to it. As long as each piece of gear (rack case, cab, etc. is 50lbs or less, I'm livin' large.)

I've played through the Aggie before though, and the tone is way nice. Plus it can do the 2 ohm thing, whereas mono-bridging the 4Pro, I can only do 4. Not to threadjack, but anyone think of anything good/bad about the 1210/1212 + DB750 setup? At 950W (2 ohm), am I losing that much from the 1200W the 4Pro is throwing?

Adding that 2nd Schroeder and I'm thinking I'll be set for some time.

Now, to go sell some gear to finance all this....
and to start prepping the missus.... :p

I'll have to be brief because I must run, but I think if anything, you'll gain volume. This is a guess, never played the SVT, but the 750 is LOUD wattage. IvanMike posted in another thread recently, and I seconded having owned the SW 2.1 myself, that he felt the DB 750 at 4ohms kept up with his Stewart 2.1 BRIDGED. I think it would be more than ample, and crazy-sick tone to boot!

OK, Im sure someone earlier has asked this, but its takin a real long tome lookin through 50+ pages, but you guys who own schroeder cabs, could you give me a one sent description in the diff of the 1010, 1210, and 1212? Im in dire need of a new cab and these are looking like what im going to be getting. Also if someones used a ampeg SVP CL through one of these, please drop a line. Thanks

Hi,

After reading all the Schroeder threads I decided to go for a 21012. I just ordered one and I can't wait to check it out! Since I live in the Netherlands, shippingcosts really kill my wallet (FedEx: $365!!!) but if I would buy an Epifani or Aguilar cab over here, it will cost me more. I'm going to use it as a stand-alone cab with a Carvin B1500 which is on order also. I'll let you know what I think of it.

I want to hear your review on that combination. I'm getting ready to unload my tuba and plan on getting a schroeder 1212 and was debating on going pre/power or with either the b1500 or Kustoms new groovebass amp.

I know what cab to buy.....now we just need a thread in quadruple digits about an amp manufacturer. :D

The B1500 is IMO a very underrated amp; no, it's not in the class of a Focus, Iamp, Thunderfunk, etc., but a very reliable, user friendly and affordable animal that can get pretty darn loud. Beats the Carvin red line series by miles.

I've been drooling over that b1500 since I first saw it. I just haven't read enough reviews to feel real secure on buying it.

I'm looking either that or the carvin dCM1000+Bmax


Having a hard time deciding on it...but I have time...gotta sell that tuba first

(if anyone knows of anyone in the market for a tuba...have them drop me a line :D )
