Yeah, whilst I like the big deep and thicker low end, I think i'l go with Jorg's suggestion on the 410 over the 21012.
I'l have one last talk with him before ordering though. I just like a big and thick low end generally, especially when on my own, but what i've found by using my Mesa 1516 in a band setting is quite the opposite. The 1516 is made up of 15" 10" and 2x6"s + tweet, but the 15" EV in the cab doesn't sound very big or full/thick. Infact, whilst it's deep, it's a very bright and punchy 15" speaker. Ay first when comparing it to my SWR's I didn't really like that, as I thought I always liked a really full low end.
Now that I have the V8, I used it with the Mesa at a couple gigs so far and I'm really happy. That lack of fullness/thickness I find turns into a lack of boominess and mud on stage. Where I used to have problems cutting through with the SWR's properly, I now cut through really well.

I'm not saying the 21012 would get boomy, I just think the 410 would be better for me cutting through, and if it has more low end than an Ampeg fridge, I don't see what it wouldn't have that deep low end I like. Jorg suggested that a 410 would be more for me, and if I wanted more full lows still, add a 1212 later. I was planning on going a 21012 + 1210 route (The smaller cabs I will be getting in a while, only real reason i'd like one is for portability and extended range) but this way i'll still get 2x12"s and i'l have 4x10's.

Just my insight..

P.S. I've usually found myself more of a fan of 15"s and 12" speakers, so i'm hoping the 410 still does have that deep low end that I like, just minus-ing the boominess.

I used to use two SWR Goliath JR's. I preferred them over Eden XLT210's because they were less bass-y, lighter, and less expensive. In the right room they sounded good, but they didn't cut through well as soon as a hint of boominess showed up. We've played at a country club where a lot of acoustic rumble is just the name of the game. I've used the Schroeder there now twice with absolutely no issue. Yes, my 1210 is full sounding because of the 12 but there's no audible mid scoopiness like the SWR and Eden's I've owned have had. Meaning that what is audible is the nice highs, some fullness, AND a note actually cutting through becuase of that low mid tone that seems to naturally come out of Jorg's cabinets, for sure mine.

I think a 410 would be perfect as a standalone for my needs but I don't relish the thought of carrying around another 75 pound cabinet that may or may not work better than the 47 pound one I already have except for maybe a couple of larger venues which, I have PA support any way.

Of course, if I had money to burn, I'd have ordered a 410 already.

Let's put the Schroeder thang in perspective. They are less expensive and a lot louder and better sounding than equivalent sized cabinets and are as loud and sometimes louder and better sounding and cheaper than larger cabs.

The idea here is to give you more volume and cut through tone than you're used to with less stress on your back and your wallet. Rest assured that Jorg's 410 is very likely louder and have more cut through than probably any other 410. It's price is "decent" and competitive, probably less than most mid/high end 410's, but if my 1210 is any indication of Jorg's other products, his 410 will be louder, sweeter, punchier, and probably carry as much if not more bottom end, even without a 12, than literally any 10's only cab out there, even up to a 610 and some 810's.

It's $950? (not sure) US, it's compact, it weighs 79 pounds rather than 120 to 150, it's not mid scooped, and it's high end is sweet. With the two speakers facing the side, the cabinet is noticeably smaller than other 410's...it's more like a 4x8 henry SWR if I remember correctly. The tweeter also takes some pretty heavy abuse but it's not harsh sounding at all.

Your expectations should be noticeably more volume than you can understand coming out of a small cabinet and relative to other other larger cabinets probably darn close to if not equal volume and "better" tone for less money and no hernia.

Everything LK says here echoes my experience with my Schroeder 410. Especially when playing upright, I found myself disappearing in the mix in some bitchy rooms. I don't know what kind of voodoo Jorg is packing into those cabs, but, their killer mix slashing penetration, and unbelievable tone is a wonderous thing. It really must be heard in context to believe. Auditioning the cab at home will not provide you with an accurate representaion of it's capabilities on stage.

I'm a waaay sold Schroeder-a-holic. I will have another in the future. The 410 is definately capable of delivering whompin' lows, and I chose it for it's ability to do that and retain crisp accurate delivery of my double bass, but I do want a 1212 or 1210 sometime;)

Now that I have my Schroeder 21012, I am getting the depth ive always wanted. The BXT cabs that I used had plenty of volume, but did not have the bottom end I needed at high levels. Anyway I am still in a quandry as to which Schroeder to pair my 21012. Should I buy a 1210 or a 1212 or a 410? I think my 21012 gives me all the bass I need, I would like a little more midrange and highs, what do you suggest?

Really considering a 1212/1210 combination right now, running them off my QSC PLX1602.... A question that I have asked before that hasnt really been answered though....Do you think this combination will be loud enough to keep up with two 100w tube halfstacks, and a loud drummer?

Thanks for the input.

I'd think that'd be plenty. I'm running a 1602 into a 3101212 with a loud 150w tube guitar and loud drummer and am not even close to pushing it hard. You'll only be short one driver have an extra tweet. Should rock!

More midrange & highs -- the 1210 or the 410.

[I'd love to have either a 1210 or 21012 to go with my 410.]
[The 1210 would be more practical for me to use for practice and smaller gigs, but a 410 + 21012 would be so awesome together -- actually, probably bigtime overkill.]

with a drummer....moderate volume, and two marshall 1/2 stacks with guitarists. They were very "tasteful" lead players vs just the more "typical" blaring loud. My 1210 with a 600 watt head driving it was more than enough volume and projection. I did not go through the PA. I'm not trying to project my preferences on you guys, but there's plenty of bottom, mids, and highs in every Schroeder cabinet....there will be also plenty of volume and cut through if you match up the right cabinet with the venues you generally play.

If those of you with 21012's or 410's need more "something" tonewise, maybe try to add some sorta eq to slightly boost the frequencies you feel you're lacking. I don't think buying an additional cabinet is the first choice answer unless you absolutely and seriously need more volume and even then, maybe you need more power first rather than a second cabinet. My 1210 is enough stage and in most cases venue volume. Maybe you guys all play bigger venues. Frankly, I don't believe that everyone does.

Seriously, if you guys need a 410 and 21012 with a PLX 1601 or 2402? in order to get the stage and venue volume you need with acceptable tone, your band is way too loud on stage and some serious thought ought to put into a discussion of your band's and hearing's future!!!

Hey guys, don't know if this has been brought up yet, but i'll give it a shot.

What do you think is the main tonal difference between a Schroeder 410 and an Eden 410XLT or XST?

Cheers.

And seansbrew - Talking to Jorg would be your best bet. I think a 410 + 21012 would be killer, or overkill ;) But A 21012 + 1210 should give you the highs you want..

Yeah, I'm just hoping that the 410 will give me all the round fullness I want, as i'm used to using bigger speakers. But I usually love the sound of a nice 10" rig (just never fancied ones i've tried out much) especially with slap (ie. Miller, Mark King, My bass teacher :p)

and with that.... bed time ;)

If you want a great, classic slap sound, try the Selenium Tweeter option in one of Jorg's cabs. He put one in my 1210 and it really has a super nice, crisp high end (probably too aggressive for many, but it that's the sound you are going for, it will cut through in a big way on the high end). It really reproduces those raw, single coil Marcus-type tones in the high treble range.

between 10's, even 8's, and larger diameter speakers. There are 8's and 10's that have lower frequency response and more "allowed" cone travel than you get with 15s and 12's.
There isn't a 15 I like except I did grow fond of 2 Bag End 15 cabs I had without tweeters, that were very compact and small with rear vents. But to me, they sounded like 10's!!!

Put the smaller speakers in the right cabinets, and you can get as much bottom end and fullness as most of the commerially available cabs with 15's. Most of the 15 inch cab makers today are trying to get the cabinets cleaner and more punchy and louder or are offering 12's neo 12's, and 10's instead.

I owned two LDS 2x8 cabs and they sounded great....needed some decent wattage (1200) to really push 'em and they did lack a little flatness...were scoopy to an extent in the mids, but in the right room they sounded really nice. I wanted a one cabinet solution and wanted to also reduce my head weight. The 1210, which is as loud as many 410 and 212 cabs I've owned along with an Acoustic IMage Focus amp, gives me a total sound machine weighing 52 pounds which is half the weight of my last rig, but I have as much if not more volume, punch, hi end, clarity, and most importantly, cut through with less.

If I were to get a two cabinet Schroeder solution right around now, I'd opt for two 1210's or a 1210 and a 1212. If you don't mind Shlepping 75 to 80 pounds, get a single 21012 or 410 and pick up a more powerful amp or an eq if you need a little more volume or specific tone...or at least try those solutions. As others have said, a 410+21012 is total overkill. You can get 3 12's a 10 and two tweeters (a 1210 + 1212) for what you'd normally get an Epifani UL410 or 212 for $UNDER 1400 DELIVERED or a 410 or 21012 for under $950.

They're great cabs.

Well, here is a pic of my 1210 + iAMP 800, from a gig.
