Adrian at Access has actually talked about getting the line.

But if your in LA then I know Jorg would be more then happy to show the cabs off. Also Jorg drop ships to help save the customer money instead of sending it to a dealer first like some do which just cost the customer extra to have it only then ship out to them if not instock.

I know there have been talk's of an LA dealer as well and then there is Juan at Bass Electric and Acoustic. So there are plenty to choose from if you need help purchasing.

Thanks
Brian

So tonight was another 'benchmarking' Schroeder gig for me... This time we played outdoors. The stage was medium, and the PA covered the full front end sound, but our stage volume is always louder outdoors anyway. I used my 1212 by itself, and it passed with flying colors.

I'm feeling like I'm starting to get a good handle on making the cab sound like I want, for one thing... I also had plenty of volume and never felt like I was out of headroom, although I wouldn't want to boost the bass too far when pushing the volume either. The sound guy's island was about 30+ feet away, and he asked me to turn down during soundcheck. By set 2, we had a reported 2000-2500 people there, and the space filled up quite nicely, and I turned up a bit as our stage volume was increasing too...no problems. The sound guy said he did have me in the mix, but that I had plenty of volume coming off the stage too.

I had quite a few people between and after sets coming up to compliment the tone and ask about the cab/head. I also had a lot of Dingwall gawkers both between sets and during.

I'm happy to say that while I was hesitant to believe that 1 2x12 cabinet would be loud enough outside (my old 4x10 wasn't), THIS ONE IS.

Sadly, my Avatar has become an 'amp-stand' so I don't have to bend over to adjust my settings. I tried it for about 2 minutes tonight and was not happy with the sound it produced. At the volume/tone settings I was using, the cab had maxed out and flabbed out, and I unplugged it.

Now I'm saving for a second 1212. I don't really NEED it...but that won't stop me.

It's funny,
I was in a Music store here in Hawaii on the Island of Oahu the other day.
I am trying to sell my Bag End Cabs.
The 1210 does the work of two.
(so bye,bye Bag Ends)
I mentioned Shroeders and the owner just looked wide eyed at me.
He simply doesn't know about Jorg's great products.
It's a hoot to me that such a great cab goes un-noticed in my part of the world.
And that ain't the first time.

Same thing happens at gigs. People come up and ask about my gear and get everything else until I mention the cab and they go "Huh. Sounds good, whatever it is!"

I had one guy come up and ask somewhat detailed questions, but I knew he was a bass player from how he was watching me during the first set...you can tell other bassists just from how they're assessing while you play. I asked if I had had any problems with my Mesa, which was a bit odd, but he was pretty complementary about the Schroeder and the Dingwall (he was a warwick player).

I do have fun with people looking at the Dingwall (they always tilt their heads to the side while they try to figure it out).

I really don't think I'd need another 1212, but I can't help but think "wow, one sounds good...two must be even better"...My way of thinking says that an extra cab should give even better clean low end response without pushing my amp as hard. As a reggae player, I do have to keep my lows in mind.

I wonder if Jorg could do a non-tweeter 'sub' configuration for a 'bottom' cab for me...

Sounds like a great experience with the little cab.

If you have a chat with Jorg about the no tweeter option, I'd be interested in that as well (may be better just to PM me).

I wouldn't be that surprised. Jörg's cabs are mostly know around these forums, and he's relatively new and just a small manufacturer in the world of cabs. Can you compare the size of his business to that of, say, Ampeg?
There are also some fresh luthiers, too, well known around TB, virtually unknown to the rest of the world.

I hope you know what that pot is for on the back ;) :smug:

Of course I do. :)

I use mine turned back to about 25% or so. I don't tend to push much in the way of highs, but it's nice to have it as an option on my 1212 for if I ever change what I play...but I don't think with a 'full 2x1212 rig' that I'd need 2 of them, especially if I use it under my current 1212.

A fact I don't mind one bit. If everyone sounded this good, I wouldn't have that edge anymore would I? :)

Isn't there some prize for that Jorg? I continue to have great experiences with the 1210 cabniet. The additional comment I have that hasn't been made before outta my posts is that I haven't bought new strings since I got my Lull bass almost a year ago now. I feel that the cabinet has as much to do with that as the versatile tone controls and boosts on the bass itself. I actually had to boost the attentuator up to 3/4 last night in a room so acoustically dead that I couldn't hear a personal 4 feet away calling off our songs. Still sounded great.

Your post didn't quite do it :D

edit; and mine didn't either..

Has anyone used a Gramma pad with their Schroeder cab for boomy stages?

If so, what was it like?

A band I'm in practices at the band leader's house that has spongy floors in some places (wood floors with pier & beam foundation).

I tried setting it on a couple of different kinds of foam and from the lower midrange up became very focused, but the low end seemed attenuated.

:help:

Is anyone else using a Bmax with a 1210 or other schroeder?

I'm having issues getting the settings good...(I'm really bad at setting up my tone on amps...I really suck at it). I seem to be losing all my presence when I move off of my E string(tuned to C#...but not by my choice) and my E seems a lil boomy, but I expect that since I have to detune so much.

I've tried various settings but mostly keep it flat and I'm getting frustrated, heh. At next practice I think I may try setting the 1210 verticle to see if that helps. Even my bandmates said it seemed like I was just dropping out a lot.

When you say flat is it set to 2-10-2 (or 2-8-2) bass-mids-treble?

If it's still too boomy at those settings, try 0-10-3 and dial in the mids more with the semi-para midrange controls till you find what will work (suggest this live with the band -- probably will sound different in your house or solo).

Also, make sure you're not clipping the input to whatever power amp you're using (the BMax has more gain than a lot of preamps).

Good luck.

I have, & am very pleased with the results. As I see it, when you couple with the floor, the resonant freq. problems become complex, unpredictable, & at times uncontrollable, turning most places into the "Boom-Boom Room".
IMO, the Gramma breaks that connection, focussing the tone simply by unmasking it. That loss of "boom" is a kind of low end attenuation (there is no free lunch). If I feel I need more bottom, I can EQ it, place the cab near the back wall or in a corner. However, I find that in a band situation, the rich lows we all love get lost in the sauce, so to speak, anyway& it's those focussed low mids that my 1210 is so good at that cut through & get the job done.
It was a small investment & well worth it.
