Yes, i did. The pickup is actually a custom made split coil with large alnico magnets. The grey one is a stacked humbucker with neodymium magnets. Very nice bell like sound, but a bit low in output.
But i am a bit unhappy: the P-Bass lookalike is not "fat" enough and the stacked one is too silent. I am considering to enhance it with a transformer - the reduction of the treble resonance will probably not be a problem. But space for the transformer is a real problem...

The bridge pickup is a pretty hot thunderbucker like beast: 7.5 k on each coil and two alnico blades, in the box of an epiphone mini. (The same construction is in the white EB-0). That's a really nice and universal tone.

All pickups have been custom made by Christoph Dolf of Bassculture.

'63 EB3, half a century of Bar Wars, multiple repairs and modifications but still a workhorse gigging regularly...

Guess I can join. First bass in a while. Epiphone EB-0. 2014 made in Indonesia. Picked up used. Only mods so far are GHS SS flats and changing the tone control wiring to mimic a '60s EB-0. Am aware of the shortcomings of the stock pup, but I like the tone. Sort of a low clean instead of pure mud. And with the tone set around 4-5 is gets closer to the hovering cloud sound. Otherwise, will say that the build quality of this bass is impressive. Shielding in the control cavity, decent pots. Body is 3 piece mahogany with veneer on the top and bottom.

Only other mod being contemplated is adding threaded neck inserts. However, on doing some research on the forum, looks like it would be very iffy on this bass as the screw holes are awfully close to the sides of the neck.

Hello SG club. Questions, a store that is an hour away from me is selling what according to me is a 2015 SG standard, the pics show the full contact bridge. I don't want to make the trip in vain so, Is this a 2015 Standard feature only? They have it on clearance for $850 brand new. Is this a good price?

I have always loved the bass but never had the dough, so if this is a good deal I may become a member here very soon.

The 2015 SG was only released as a Standard model (there was no Special/Faded model for 2015). It should have the trapezoid fretboard inlays, the mother of pearl Gibson logo and holly inlays on the headstock, and the Babicz Full Contact bridge. It should also have the high gloss nitro finish. If it has all of that, it's most likely a 2015 model, but you can confirm it by looking at the back of the headstock. It will have the year of manufacture stamped below the serial number. For thst price, I'd make the trip to check it out, seeing as it's almost 1/2 of what the MSRP is for the 2015 model. Hope it works out for you!

Thanks TBone76, the trigger has been pulled, pictures later. You all may want to check your local GC, it seems they have most of the Gibson inventory on Clearence to make space for new models.

Side not, Gibson doesn't include much Case Candy right? It only came with some tools and paperwork. No strap or cable.

Congrats, glad I could help! My Faded only came with the warranty info, some other advertising paperwork, and the truss rod/phillips-head combo wrench (don't lose it!). Yours may also come with the allen keys to adjust the Babicz bridge, but that should be it, as far as I know. gsgbass recently purchased a 2015 model, so he may be able to tell you definitively if it should come with anything else.

Also, when changing strings, make sure to get short-scale strings as replacements, otherwise the tension may not feel right. I put regular scale strings on another short-scale that I owned, and the strings just felt kind of floppy. I currently have D'Addario XL short-scale rounds on my SG, and the tension feels almost the same as the strings on my P bass.

Well, SG/EBers, I tried, but I just can't seem to love it. Haven't put new strings on, but it wasn't the sound that was bugging me - I could still get almost all the great tones I was after - really, it's the feel. Something about the difference in tension and the little wee fretboard, even for a smaller dude like me. I might try 32" again, but thus far my jazz-styled Ibanez is still slaughtering all comers.

So, I'm puttin' the SG up for sale later today in the classifieds - 2014 Chocolate SG Special. Not perfect; has a couple dings and wear spots and such.

It's taken me a bit of time to get to love the SG as well. I actually sold it once and got it back and now I'm getting close to being happy with it. The difference I have from you is I absolutely love the feel of the neck and fretboard, it's the reason I've been tweaking the SG to get a sound I like out of it.

Ok, searched my parts drawer and came up with a "On/On" switch and now I can Coil split my Dimarzio Model One neck pick up. I really like the tonal options with the switch.

Also, I was getting horrendous feedback in my jam room (probably the fluorescent lights) so I went ahead and shielded all the cavities. I really don't understand why they didn't shield a bass that retails for $1400. Shielding solved my noise issues. Happy camper.

This is also a question I have. I purchased an American Standard jazz, buzzed worse than a four year old on Halloween.

At that price level I begin to expect those things as something to be included.

Having said that, none of my SG EB basses have ever done this to me

I've inquired with SG owners on feedback issues and only heard crickets chirping, so it doesn't seem like it's an issue with SG owners.
Not sure why mine did. I initially thought it was someone tinkering with the wiring before I bought it was causing it, but wiring and pots were all stock, but sure enough as soon as I shielded all cavities all is well.
