I know that this is an older audio clip, but is this Sidewinder bridge pickup using neodymium or ceramic magnets?

Are you currently making a bridge Sidewinder to these exact specs?If so, which one is it?
Since you have been working on a neodymium based Jazz Sidewinder, are you thinking about making the larger Sidewinders with neodymium magnets also?
My guess is that David has been sucked in by the extreme attraction of neodymium.
On a side note, a pair of Kappalite 3015LFs arrived at my door today.... perhaps the last of a dying breed.

I believe that is the current specs. The only difference between the original Sidewinders and the newer ones are the newer ones are wound a little hotter.
That is the plan.
I'm just very busy at the moment, so I haven't had time for any R&D.

My original goal of two Jazz Sidewinders placed in close proximity near the bridge has now been changed to one EMG-35 size Sidewinder placed in bridge position, wired straight to the output jack. I'll probably have a switch to enable Series/Off/Parallel as well.

I have a new 6-string neck thru with the following configuration. My intent was for a more modern Fender-J tone (think maple Sadowsky with better bottom end).
Body- Sapelle with Figured Bubinga Top and walnut accent layer
Neck- Five piece (Maple, Walnut, Purple Heart, Walnut, Maple) 35" scale/24 Frets
Fingerboard- Cocobolo
Electronics - Bartolini G66J1 and 3 band EQ with mid switch.
The tone I get is a more muddied bottom end with harsh highs (think Ibanez) and very little mids. Rolling off the high end and adding mids leads to a muddy tone that disappears in the mix. Presently strung with D'addarios. The Ken Smith Rock Lights it came with, were even more maddening. I'm thinking to have the Luther break it apart and consider swapping out aspects.
What direction should I go?
I Thought about pickups but couldn't find a replacement for the Barts size(3/32"-5 1/2"). So any choice seems to have the builder ripping into the woods.

That's a hard one. There aren't too many pickups in that size.
If you wanted to rout for a different pickup, that's still a very long cavity, and longer than most 6 string pickups.

Good question. I'd like to hear that as well. Another GG tune that would be fun to try would be 'His Last Voyage' from Free Hand.

Thanks! The original is played with a pick, and that classic prog rock tone needs a pick. It was all about not sounding like a traditional Fender bass. It wouldn't have sounded the same with my fingers. That was mostly the neck pickup with some bridge mixed in. The original recording was a P bass.
I actually posted that video originally because I had made comments on a video by former GG members "Three Friends" that the bass player they were using didn't fit the part, and was playing with his fingers. He was too jazzy. So the YouTube page owner said if I thought I could do better go ahead and post it. So I did.
As far as the Neo P getting that tone. It should get pretty close in the "single coil" mode. The coils are very similar to half a Neo J.
