Show me your Alembics

Here is my 76' Series 1. Lacewood top, cherry core, maple/walnut stringers, ebony fingerboard, padouk laminate headstock. Is there an Alembic Club? I didn't see one in searching.....:p

Sweet Series I ya got there. Also love that sunburst jazz.

Hell, your whole collection is super sweet, but I'm kinda partial to the Series I and the sunburst jazz 'cause I have one of each.

Peace,

James

Just noticed all the pictures in my previous posts in this thread have disappeared. Flimsy excuse to post more pictures of my Alembics, but I'll take it :D

Still have these two and intend to keep it that way.

Here's an '87 Stanley Clarke and a '79 Series II I used to own. Funny thing is, the only things in this picture I still own are the keyboard and the Zoom 506. Even the carpet is gone

My current Series II and Series I basses, but with a 1974 Series I Short Scale standing between them. Sold that one several years ago. Kinda regret selling it.

Set neck and neck through that is.

Here is my 96 Epic that I got around 3 years ago. Love the set neck tone and playability of this bass. Bocate top.

And here is the neck through 92 Europa with a Redwood burl top I just scored of TB. I jammed with it today and had a blast. Still getting used to dialing in tone in a group setting with the LP filter and Q. Not as different from the sound of my Epic as I thought it might be, but that is a good thing cause I LOVE the sound of the Epic.

They actually made it a featured custom, so if you're inclined to have a look the thread is here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

It's the most amazing bass I've ever played. In spite of it being medium scale, the low B is fantastic.

The folks at Alembic were wonderful to work with, they really made the whole process of getting a custom built a treat right from the beginning.

Here are some pics of my '73 Alembic small standard. The top is teak with an oak core.

Ooohh, interesting. How do you like that teak? Years ago I worked in a woodshop and got a bit of hands-on experience with many of the exotic woods used in boutique basses. Teak always struck me as an appealing if slightly problematic wood for instruments -- very oily, tended to clog saw blades & sanders. But man, it looks, feels, and smells really succulent. Almost sensual. Yours may be the first bass I ever saw made with teak.

OMG...you own this bass? That's one of the finest basses I've ever seen......just wow.

I do, and it actually sounds and plays even better than it looks.. I have a pre Gibson Tobias Signature, and a Spector NS-5XL as well, but honestly as much as I love those 2 I've barely touched them since getting the Alembic. Can't wait to get another one someday :)

This bass is 32'' which I believe is medium scale and has really low action. The serial number is 33 and tips the scale at 9.5 lbs. The teak top and oak core give this bass a rather bright tone. This bass also does not have a chambered body cavity or it would weigh a lot less. Matt
