Show me your compact pedalboard setup

My little update...

The Josh Wah is the best filter I've used and I've tried a lot of them. Very easy to get a great sound out of it. Probably the last filter I buy.

I know I agreed with you on W&C TFR being the best fuzz, but I'll also agree with you on JoshWah. :D
Out of all the filters I've owned, JoshWah is my favorite no doubt. Killed my GAS for Micro Tron IV and Proton v4.

What is the Bass Pocket Amp? and wellllll, how does it sound with the MDB2
Its the Palmer Pocket Bass preamp. It sounds great with the MBD-2. The MBD-2 always sounds pretty good IMO, but the "modern" cab sim on the Palmer cuts any unwanted fizz.

How do you like that Palmer preamp? I'm looking for a new preamp and that one caught my eye.
So far so good. It is brand new to me so take everything said with a grain of salt.. the fuzz setting is garbage. The OD setting is usable. The clean setting is great and the two cab sims are very usable. I am not sure what the eq center for the high knob is, but it is way too high for me. It seems to only add string noise and waaay to mich zing. The good news is that the mid frequency can be set as high as 8khz. I can just bring back the higher frequency that I want with it. Time will tell, but it is a nice, well thought out unit with a ton of good features.

First time I've seen a post here with the Palmer.

I've had mine for about 2 years, not on my boards, it and my Broughton Messenger v3 are my headphone amps. The Palmer's controls are not exactly intuitive, but I can get some good sounds with it, it has some good features like a battery option. i like the Messenger for the HPF.

Where in NC are you?

Here is the latest version of my main board. Hopefully it will stay this way for a while. It's the same pedals as the previous version but I had such a nice case I wanted to use. My little board was to small and didn't look good. My big board was too big and was impossible to squeeze in. So I cut down the big board and now it fits perfectly in the case. I do like that I don't have to take it out from the bottom half of the case, just lift off the lid, plug it in and go. A little bigger than it has to be but I can live with the unused space. Who knows, one day I might need to squeeze another pedal in there.

Is this compact enough?

Broughton HPF, Sonic Research Turbo Tuner, Boss MS-3 with Becos CompIQ Mini, Function f(x) Minitaur, & Land Devices PRE in the loops, output to Strymon Volante into OMEC Teleport.

The MS-3 controls the Volante via midi and the MS-3, Volante, & Teleport are all connected to a usb hub so I can connect them all to my computer with a single USB cable. The expression pedal controls parameters (usually volume) on the MS-3 and the other footswitch changes preset banks.

I know this is getting way nerdy but I found these USB cables online, which have saved me about 1 metre of cable under my board. They're ribbon type USB A to mini USB - one pointing up, and one down - because the Micro Pro and Source Audio C4 have the USB ports in different directions. I link these with a small USB A-to-A connector, and so far they're working fine. Ordered from China, I couldn't find these things anywhere nearer than that!

Ooh, interesting. 1 m is too long for me but I would LOVE the ribbon cable...

I ordered the same thing to put my L6 wireless on my board. It really cleaned and tightened up the install. Straight connectors are just so useless on a board.

I was so happy to find these, but the holy grail would be a cable with the mini up/down connectors at either end, no adaptor required. We can dream!

The great thing about the Josh Wah is how easy it is to get a great sound. With other filters I feel like I am twisting knobs endlessly to get a sound I like.

I feel this way about my Microtron IV. Both switches hard left, volume to unity or a bit beyond, resonance anywhere from 10-3 o'clock, and gain set to open the filter when I dig in. Great vowel sounds, no thought required. Easy funk filter, seems to sit perfectly in the zone.
