Show me your compact pedalboard setup

IMG_20211226_194220578.jpg

Updating my homemade plywood pedalboard. I received the Keeley Synth-1 yesterday and successfully tested it in rehearsal today. Only positive impressions. I plan to build another expression fader in the near future, as under the Zoom MS-60B (connected to the Source Audio SA141), and connect it to the Keeley Synth-1.

Nice to hear about the Keeley! Do you think having separate fuzz, octave, filter pedal combos would make something like the Synth-1 redundant? Demos look great but not sure if those bases are already covered.

Unfortunately, I did not have enough experience and equipment for such experiments, although I really want to, but, alas, for me it is not yet available (mainly financially). However, I am of the opinion: if there is time and opportunities, then you need to experiment, build various chains of effects and look for the sound that you hear in your head (well, or in someone's arrangement).
In the city where I live, there are no showrooms with many pedals to play around and see if this pedal or effect chain is really useful for me. There are only a few limited stores. Therefore, you have to choose according to video reviews on YouTube and order via the Internet.
In my Zoom MS-60B, I changed the firmware to MS-70CDR, now up to six effects can be placed in the patch chain, this helps with sound experiments, but, of course, not all effects sound close enough to the originals.
Therefore, I repeat: if you have the opportunity, experiment!

As an example, before purchasing Synth-1, I tried to repeat the sound on my board, as in the video below, and partially succeeded.

Agreed, I have! And the chain is working for me now. The idea was to see if one pedal may be able to replace a few. I'll have to test one day if I'm able to. Hope your rig continues to be great fun for you.

The Quad Cortex is certainly a tempting option. One thing to do it all. Has XLR outs. Made to be on the floor. Made for DI/Silent Stage/IEM gigs. I have an Empress bass compressor, thunder and Rolls on a Nano and a REDDI so my rig is simple but not an all in one. I have chosen to not use a lot of effects as it’s just easier and smaller.

This board has been a GAS killer. I have yet to feel the urge to rip it apart, which for me usually happens every 2 months. Been like 6 so far and I’m very pleased with the size vs function.

Does the QC not have a decent octave or filter? Curious why you wanted to keep the MXR and JoshWah, needing a separate power supply, bigger board and case.

/asking because IF the QC is an all-in-one solution, I might consider it, but I use octave and filter as well - and if those sections are lacking in the QC....

The QC is a pretty close to an all-in-one, and certainly the best I've tried out of this, the various Helix offerings (which were fantastic as well, just too large of a footprint) and Headrush. The QC doesn't have an OC-2 style octave yet, and that's one of my most used effects, hence the MXR VBO. The QC does have a POG-style octave that works well, but I'm too picky to be consigned to it. I need my subby goodness. The filter in the QC is pretty comprehensive and is definitely usable. Honestly, I needed an external power supply for the VBO and my headphone amp (for IEMs) anyway, and there was space so I figured I would put the Joshwah on there. It does sound marginally better than the QC filter and is easier to dial in, so for now it stays.

I’ve found the Source Audio C4 to be a good pairing with the QC.

Using the QC as a MIDI Controller and triggering preset changes on the C4 with scene changes on the QC, I can dial in a lot of added versatility.

Currently my scene A is a dirty Moog/EHX Bass Micro Synth type filter and Scene C is an OC-2 octave. Switching between the scenes triggers the preset change on the C4.
