Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Optostomp and Vt always on . Sft , DUG , or both on depending on the flava wanted . The Dug acts as my DI even if not in use . I may add a Chorus before the dug sooner or later .

You ever use both the VT and SFT together for total Ampeg Madness?

As for chorus Ibanez makes a mini version that'll fit perfect on your board.
Oh yes the Vt is always on as my main tone shaper first in the chain . It plays very well the both the sft and DUg . It just adds fat deep Ampeg deliciousness . My head is set flat and I currently run one or two sealed 410s .

Here is my church IEM board, waiting on a Sushi Box FX finally for the January build.

And here is my tribute band board that will remain in this config for quite some time. The UA is incredible. It has a Broughton always on HPF underneath as well.

Hey guys! Just wanted to show the first prototype of what i'm doing with my pedaltrain nano+. No pedals yet as I've got to sort out the power first.

Not entirely happy with how it's worked out, but this is a first time doing this. Some cables have already undone themselves, so my next step for v2 is to build a DI into a 1590B and attach it directly to the board, and skip the chunky connectors between cables.

The pedals that I'll attach once the power lead to the power supply is put in are an OC-5, an Empress Compressor MKI, two jam pedals - a rattler and red muck, and a source audio C4 running envelopes. I would also fit a chorus on there (I have an EHX Bass Clone), but for that to happen I'll have to replace it, the compressor and the C4 for pedals with top jacks (I'm considering a walrus julia, diamond bass comp jr, and three leaf proton - waiting for them to become available).

I'm also semi-planning prototype v3, where I would rehouse something like a JHS Colour box (so I can have the bass input in it as well, essentially) and have a preamp/di instead of just a di.

Let me know what you guys think!! Super excited about modding this board, and the possibilities that it brings.

Soooooo bass soul food is here, and i tested it last night at band rehearsal. Oh EHX please do something with this switch of yours, this loud pop whenever you engage is not even funny.BOOM and a few second later, BOOM again, and BOOM. It was exactly the same with a double muff i had 10 yrs ago. Other than the switch that drove me nuts, i have to say that note definition was amazing, and its gain was more than enough for my needs. Low end loss ? probably yes, but minimal compared to guitar drives i was using before, and quite frankly i dig the tone so much, and i use it so sparingly, that its not bothering me. I step on it on parts i play with drums and the guitars play chords, or during some guitar solos, depends on the situation. I would also like to add that it is NOT a noisy pedal, even with everything daisy chained with 1spot. This setup leaves space for one more toy on my arsenal, and i am pondering on it. Maybe a heavier distortion, an EQ....i dont know. Bandmates liked BSF tone as well. They did not like MT-2 or ODB-3 i was using before. ( Filthy BOSS how much i love you)

I plan to make a back up board like the one i used some years ago.

  • Try the soul food by itself on an isolated power supply to rule out the daisy chaining power as the source of the pop.
  • Does the popping lessen or go away if you click it on and off a few times after you power up the board?
  • Another thing to try is switching it from true bypass to buffered mode. The switch for this should be on the pcb if you take the bottom plate off.

Firstly, thank you very much for your reply and troubleshooting : )

Think i am going to do the obvious, to connect it with the power supply that came with the pedal...(kinda strange inclusion since its 9v center negative) i wonder how much does this increase the final product price btw.

i have tried various clicks post and before powering and resets of power but the BOOM persisted.
Finally, switching the inside pot from true to buffered, will be my last resort, since it the only true bypass pedal on my board at the moment...but i am tempted do it just to check if the explosion will stop. I guess it will.

thank you again.

I have never owned this pedal, but Ive considered picking one up. In that time, I noticed several times people complained about the pop, but it seemed to always be solved by flipping the internal switch. FWIW
