Show me your compact pedalboard setup

First time seeing this thread, some very interesting stuff here. For this year, I downsized, and really like where this landed. I mainly play classic and some prog rock and haven't gigged in a while, but still like the flexibility it offers. I am seriously considering dropping the Peterson to free up additional space and just using the Element tuner, for now.

This is a killer board! Do you use the SV-Pre like an overdrive or more of an always on sort of thing?

Thanks both! The Messenger Jr is always on, to tune to the room acoustics, depending on the amp. For the straight-ahead swing and latin stuff I admit I generally don't use anything else. But for more modern and fusion tunes, there are some good use cases. E.g. I set the FMeron to +1 octave only, 100% wet with little frequency modulation, this gives me a cool glitchy tone for solos. The Doom 2 can emphasize this with its octave fuzz character (think Bill Frisell). The Subsonic is perfect for synthy stuff, say if anyone calls Chameleon at the jam, but also great during a drum solo over a repeated pattern. I play the same pattern one octave above and engage the octaver, this adds volume in a subtle way.

I will admit, I tried out your FMeron settings yesterday, after wondering how it would work in a jazz setting. Definitely a lead/solo kind of tone! A little bit out there, but if you are playing stuff which gets a little fusion-y, I could see it fitting in just fine. Not sure I have a need of that particular sound in the bands I'm playing with these days, but definitely fun to see how someone else is using such a wild and powerful pedal!

Small board #2.

Okay, last one for awhile. I was researching a headphone amp (even though the Infinity does what I need) because the FX are placed after the infinity and, the infinity does not have an FX loop.

once I started reading the H9 manual, I realized I can kill the dry signal out of the H9 and run the stereo return to the infinity via the “aux” in.

perfect setup for me and my moving from my desk to the couch. I can also Bluetooth in music.

Very nice!!

That resolves the primary gripe so many people have with the Big Box/Digital Darkglass units. Way to problem solve!!

That was my primary gripe. Eventide for the win! Even though the Infinity is the heart of the board.

How has your experience been with the Infinity if you don't mind me asking?

I've read that others have had issues with the Infinity clipping with active basses ?

I love "all in one " preamps. GK Plex etc :)

Thank you

The infinity took about 3 days to wrap my head around. Now it's just another pedal with a clean channel, a dirt channel, and a Drive channel with a massive about of customization via the Darkglass suite. So when playing an active bass, you need to set it to active in the suite. This will lower the gain by 6db.

I really really love it. It sounds great in whatever mode I use. I've disabled the comp because the Alma comp is better in every way. but if I had only one pedal to choose to take with me. It would be the infinity.

Tracking is nice as well because channel 1 is clean / 2 is darkglass / 3/4 are whats coming in off the Aux input.

I was thinking I was going to have to sell it and get a CAPO for the signal routing I wanted to use with the Eventide, but fortunately I was able to dial in my path.

TLDR, The infinity has inspired me.

Now I'm finally happy. I love love love the TCE MojoMojo for aggressive overdrive/distortion. Even if the sky is the limit to spend, the MojoMojo will never be replaced. But I don't dig it as much for mild overdrive. I was dying to get a Spark Booster on my board but assumed it would never fit. So I tried the Nobel ODR mini, which was OK, but it didn't have the open organic characteristic of the Spark Booster.

So I told myself to remove two minis, get the SparkBooster and find a way to make it fit.

Well, surprise surprise. The positioning of the cables allowed me to drop it in the same footprint as the ODR mini! Not only that, but I also realized I could get everything on board without having the MojoMojo change over the top. All I had to do was make a slight tweak in the routing for it to all come together more neatly.

After (and forever?):

Radial Big Shot I/O > TCE Polytune 3 (buffer on) > Diamond Bass Compressor > Bass Envelope Filter > EHX Pico POG > TCE Spark Booster > TCE Mojomojo Overdrive > EHX Bass Clone Chorus >TCE Bonafude Buffer (underneath board) > MXR Phase 95 > TCE Flashback Mini Delay

Well, if you would stop standing behind people I'll explain it for you mysterious one...

Rothwell Love Squeeze

I thought this was a bit, ya know, YELLOW...!

So, during my research for just such a compressor...I found a picture from another Rothwell true believer...

JohnK did a great interpretative job on this one...

I thought the black switch cap gave it a great "Blackhole" vibe with Stanley Kubrick decending...

No artifacts, no pumping and breathing, no extra tone tricks and isn't a limiter with ZERO noise.

Can you compare the Love Squeeze bs the Honey Comp? Those are two I’m looking at. TIA

First, I can't tell you what type of compressor the Honey Comp is because I can't find where it's published anywhere? But, I've had one when introduced. It's a good compressor as anything is from Carl Martin from Denmark.

If I were to say that the Love Squeeze doesn't have the range of grip on the signal that the Honey Comp does nor does it have any residue. It is dead quite and just lets you know it's there.

I was testing a newly acquired Source Audio ZIO Bass Preamp with the Love Squeeze yesterday for awhile. I really liked the results of two very complimentary units that have similar baseline style. (Also, oddly, I found I liked the performance of the Love Squeeze @ 9v over the 18v capability.)

TL, DR....

I'm becoming a bit of a minimalist and ditching my full-blown PedalTrain board and heavy-ass carry case. I need recommendations for a soft-sided carry bag capable of accommodating maybe 3-4 pedals (wireless, multi FX, HPF, MXR power brick)...bonus points if it has has an accessory pocket large enough for a couple cables.

Thanks for the accommodation!
